My HSA is at Fidelity, where I can invest in basically whatever is available through a brokerage account. Is that how an HSA works at Merrill?

Also, is your HSA will Merrill Edge or the full service Merrill Lynch brokerage?

Merrill is your HSA provider? Are you sure its not Bank of America?

It appears you can. Here are some web pages for BoA HSA:
- FAQ: https://healthaccounts.bankofamerica.co ... -faq.shtml

- https://healthaccounts.bankofamerica.co ... ents.shtml

- some investment options: https://healthaccounts.bankofamerica.co ... nsumer.pdf (note if your HSA at BoA is under your employers plan, the options may be different from that list)

The S&P500 fund or VTWAX look like good options to me if you want 100% stocks.

Otherwise Vanguard Life strategy (fixed stock/bond ratio) or Vanguard target date (stock/bond glide path) are good too if you want some bonds in an all-in-one type fund.

First, sort the choices by expense ratio. Remove all of the funds with expense ratios >0.2% from consideration.
The S&P500 fund or VTWAX look like good options to me if you want 100% stocks.
+1, if it's used as a long-term account (e.g. part of your retirement portfolio)

Otherwise do this... (or put all in a total bond market fund)
Otherwise Vanguard Life strategy (fixed stock/bond ratio) or Vanguard target date (stock/bond glide path) are good too if you want some bonds in an all-in-one type fund.
Make sure you check out my list of certifications. The list is short, and there aren't any. - Eric 0. from SMA
