Were these from the recent "freebie delivered to your home" source?
We had ordered a few about 2 weeks earlier. The BinaxNOW (we had to get a 6-pack) expire next fall, but the other (forgetting brand), which at least we only got 2, expires in March. This March.

Mine came today and they expire on June 23, 2022. Looks like they're getting rid of the older ones first.

Also curious about this, but my guess is no. Most packages will trigger an email, but not necessarily show up in the preview. That has been my experience with other packages delivered by USPS.

I arranged with some friends that I would share mine with them and they would wait to order -- maybe a month -- and we'd hope the second batch would have a later expiration date.Mel Lindauer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 7:16 pm Mine came today and they expire on June 23, 2022. I don't know what their reasons are, but USPS is the only service that delivers everywhere. UPS and FedEx only deliver to places where it's easy and profitable to deliver. They would have needed to have some of the shipments handled by USPS no matter what.

In store. My wife spent Christmas Eve chasing the delivery guy from CVS to CVS. They’re the QuickVue ones. I think the Binax ones have a shorter expiration date.ResearchMed wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 9:55 pmTHe ones from CVS... were those in store or online?quantAndHold wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 7:36 pmWait. Hard to blame them. I really doubt that most people ordering these are going to store them for months.Mel Lindauer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 7:16 pm Mine came today and they expire on June 23, 2022. Looks like they're getting rid of the older ones first.

Re: Free in-home Covid test Kits
There are two tests per kit. Folks might use the first one now to experiment/practice, but I suspect they'd want to save at least one in case they had any symptoms and wanted to know for sure if they had Covid.willthrill81 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:08 amHard to blame them. What is this about? I guess the article below is related, though I find this all so confusing.tomsense76 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 8:28 pm Are these covered under the FDA's expiration date extension? Or is that unrelated?

I bought some BinaxNOW tests last fall, which turned out to "expire" last month. So, they probably had about three months left to expiration when I bought them, which is kind of annoying. I bought them online and picked them up at a nearby Walgreens. I didn't have time to check the expiration date in the store. Even had I known of the fairly short time to expiration, I had already paid for them online and wasn't about to stick around the store longer than necessary to sort things out.
By the time I wanted to take them with me on a recent trip, the expiration date was imminent. I did a little research and found that, indeed, Abbott (BinaxNOW) had extended the expiration date on some rapid tests. Long story short, mine were not among them, unfortunately.
But, now, with this recent news, I am left to wonder whether my unused tests may still be good. Not sure I will go to the trouble of recontacting Abbott to inquire, especially as I should have my *free* tests from the US government arriving soon. Still, hate to just toss the unused tests, especially if they may, actually, still be good.

I ordered the first day, the day they started taking orders which was 1 day before the official launch. I have still not received anything or a tracking number. I live on the central Ca coast. Are other areas also still waiting?

Re: Free in-home Covid test Kits
I ordered the first day and got mine 6 days later. My BFF, who lives just down the street, ordered hers 10 minutes after I did, and got them yesterday. San Diego.
Re: Free in-home Covid test Kits
I ordered on that day, too. Nothing yet. New Jersey.
Funny, I remember a lot of people praising the whole process. "See - the government created this really simple site! So easy to use!" Yes, but in the back of my head I thought "well, let's see if I actually get them."
Re: Free in-home Covid test Kits
Nada here in NE ordered when the site was open (I think 1/2 day before the published date).

Re: Free in-home Covid test Kits
We ordered day before the official start date.
A few days ago, we got the USPS delivery notice it would be delivered on the 5th (Saturday, tomorrow).
Checking the tracking number showed it was already at a major postal location a few miles away.
On the 2nd, we got another email stating it would be delivered by 9pm on the 3rd.
Yesterday late afternoon, it was here (on the 3rd).
If only more things could run with such precision... including *regular* postal delivery!

We got a small blue box with all 4 tests in it. I thought it might be specially packaged. But if you got BinaxNOW, they must be sending out whatever they can find for the initial "rush", which isn't suprising.

Re: Free in-home Covid test Kits
We ordered the day the site went live, got our boxes in the mail in 6 days (SE Mich). Our neighbor ordered same day, still has not gotten hers. SIL1 in another state ordered same day, got hers in 10 days. SIL2 in another state ordered same day, has not gotten hers. DD ordered same day, same state as us, still has not gotten hers. Our local CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Costco, Kroger usually have kits in-stock. Free same-day testing is offered by local county health offices, pop-up testing available in dozens of locations around us. Other test options (rapid and PCR) that cost $100 to $150 are available at many local urgent care centers.
Re: Free in-home Covid test Kits
I placed an order as soon as the site went live (a day before it was officially announced).
We got our kits last week - 2 boxes of iHealth kits containing 2 tests each.
Our town also provides free drive-through rapid tests. You need an appointment, but don't need a provider's prescription.
