Yesterday I scheduled a payment for today. In the past when I did this it would send the payment in the morning. 8:30pm and still no sign anything that happened. Did you get an error notification or anything when it didn't work? Or just silence with no payment?

It seems hit or miss depending on the bank. Silence if it doesn’t work. On the app, it’ll show that the bill is “unavailable” on the bills tab.MrJedi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 7:37 pmYesterday I scheduled a payment for today. Re: [Using PayPal to pay bills and earn 5% on credit cards]
Unfortunately it seems my Coinbase debit is dead for this purpose. At least for the bills I care to use it on. 3 straight days with various methods and still no luck. I tested one of my other debit cards and it zipped right through with no speed bumps. I saw that somebody on Reddit kept trying periodically and has managed to get a payment through but that is too much hassle/effort to squeeze out a little extra cashback to try every day and make sure the bill actually gets paid on time eventually. I'm keeping my account active in case it becomes easy again but not holding my breath.
I did at least get to squeeze out about $800 in Coinbase rewards while it lasted so it was at least worthwhile to get setup.

Yeah, I can't get it to work for anything anymore. Chase was the last to work, but that doesn't even work anymore. I'm curious if this was Paypal or Coinbase, or both. I knew it wouldn't last forever, it's just unfortunate.MrJedi wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 6:46 am Unfortunately it seems my Coinbase debit is dead for this purpose. I went ahead and pulled whatever funds I had left in Coinbase because.

Last couple of days, I cannot pay my electric utility bill that is due next month. No matter what I do, I get:
Something went wrong. Try again.
Anyone else seeing this? I'm using my BoA premium rewards card that has worked for this fine for several months.

I just paid my electric bill today with my Discover Card using PayPal Bill Pay.
Did Chase announce their 5% cash back catagories for Q4 yet?
I used my BoA Premium Rewards Visa to pay my gas bill via PayPal Bill Pay at the end of last month (August).

I'm curious if there's a way to funnel the Q4 mobile wallet category from Discover through PayPal.

You can buy Visa gift cards at Staples when they have a no-fee promo, which is frequent, and then use those with PayPal.

If the site accepts it. PayPal is an Apple Pay competitor so it wouldn’t work directly in this instance.

I only did it for my BoA Premium Rewards Visa (2.625% cash back). It won't count as online shopping, PayPal codes it at utilies.cowbman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 1:47 pmDid you get the bonus? I used my CB Visa at Costco and for a haircut. Paid a cc bill in PayPal with the CB Visa and it worked.

you can link the Chase Freedom Flex to Paypal
and use the Paypal app's generated QR code to buy three $500 VISA gift card at CVS.
You will get 7% (1% base + 2% drugstores + 4% Paypal).
( $1500 x 7% ) - $17.85 [fees] = $87.15
$87.15 ÷ $1500 = 5.8%
I did this in Q4 2021, and I got the 7%.

Does anyone have success with adding chase cards to PayPal bill? I tried and PayPal says that account number is not correct.

Thanks for the correction, I did not think Chase or other credit cards were on the bill payment site, but I just looked and see they have added that.plutoblackhole wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 10:40 pmYou can with debit cards or ACH at least.jeffyscott wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 10:29 pm ^ I don't think you can pay credit card bills with PayPal.
I did find Chase and was able to add one of my Chase credit card accounts as a bill to pay. I did not get an error. But I am assuming I could not pay that credit card bill with another credit card?
Re: [Using PayPal to pay bills and earn 5% on credit cards]
PayPal seems to know when you're paying toward a credit card account and won't let you select a credit card to pay from. The only options that populate are debit cards and linked bank accounts.jeffyscott wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 8:09 amThanks for the correction, I did not think Chase or other credit cards were on the bill payment site, but I just looked and see they have added that.plutoblackhole wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 10:40 pmYou can with debit cards or ACH at least.jeffyscott wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 10:29 pm ^ I don't think you can pay credit card bills with PayPal.

A warning for anyone who hasn't heard already: Coinbase sometimes shuts down cards if they are used to pay credit cards. Back in June I was promptly shut down after paying $1746 directly to Citi credit cards followed by $4292 to other credit cards through Paypal Bill Pay, though I was eventually able to get the card reactivated.

Re: [Using PayPal to pay bills and earn 5% on credit cards]
I'm wondering the same, particularly for Washington County, Oregon. There is a "Washington County Finance Division" on Paypal Bill Pay, but I'm not sure that a payment to the Finance Division will actually make it to the property tax assessor division... and of course calling the county has not been helpful.
Re: [Using PayPal to pay bills and earn 5% on credit cards]
Got mine reactivated as well but it took a few phone calls. Not sure on the specific rules, but I suspect they are more likely to suspend based on large purchases. I’ve only paid credit cards with it (over 6 months) and I only got deactivated after making some larger payments.cowbman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 1:22 pmThis is consistent with my experience. It's also more likely to be declined.
