Back when I was dipping my toes in the world of classical sacral works I ran into a Naxos CD called "Ave Maria: Sacred Arias and Choruses". Of the mutiple tracks were 3 by Hungarian soprano Ingrid Kertesi, that to my mind were outstanding. The first was "Ave Maria" by Donizetti:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2p1ETC ... A&index=12

The second was "Ave Maria" by Bach(arranged by Gounod):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRt7l8_8_F8

Last but not least is the famous Schubert "Ave Maria"(Ellens Gesang III):

Naxos is a budget label, and although there are many fine recordings of these beautiful pieces, this album has a place in my heart especially the tracks by Ms. Kertesi.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I listened to the first one a few minutes ago, I will listen to the others later today.

Lucky you! Dave Mason is one of a kind. Your post inspired me to listen to two Dave Mason shows from XM Radio. The first was Then Again - Live, Dave recreating his iconic album, I can’t find it online, but I have it on CD downloaded from somewhere on the Internet and Dave Mason with a live audience, link here:

He has had quite the career.

I've been trying out the new Amazon Music. The "no additional charge if you have Amazon Prime" version, not the "Unlimited" version you have to pay more for. This opens the whole Amazon catalogue, but the catch is that you can only listen in random order.

I think it's great, and I am frugal enough to enjoy what I can get. I have listened to the "My Discovery Mix" channel for a couple of weeks now; it's updated once per week. Most of the songs are good, and I can move on to the next if I don't like it (not very many). A good way to hear new music. Where else will I hear the latest Eastern Europe pop hits, or the latest Western Europe jazz hits? I presume it will sample all over, over time.

Of course I'd rather have the whole catalogue open at no additional charge, but it's kind of fun the way it is, and not as restricted as before the change.

I bet that was fantastic. Next year maybe mix it up and serve hors d'oeuvres along with the Ride of The Valkyries, mains during Beethoven's Sixth, and dessert to the 1812 Overture.

The last movement of Holst's The Planets (Neptune, The Mystic) -- which I am actually listening to now -- is also a splendid choice for initiating the traditional post-prandial nap/coma.

Just listened to your link and can see why it would be an ideal background for a Thanksgiving gathering. I have a favorite CD of Beethoven concertos that might be okay for similar background, although No. 5 does open with a bang not unlike the Fifth, so maybe good with the hors d'oeuvres?

Yes, Beethoven’s fifth piano concerto would be another suitable choice. I’m listening to it now, beautiful stuff.

Tom Petty - Live at the Fillmore, 1997

Saw this pop up in Apple Music as a new release, and wasn't expecting much from it, but ended up really enjoying it. About four hours of performances from a 20-night residency at The Fillmore in my native San Francisco, featuring some interesting covers and several special guests.

Found Veronica Swift recordings on iTunes but did not for Ms. Rebolloso any ideas on where to get her stuff?

No, I don't. I couldn't find much of Ms. Rebolloso on Amazon music either. I did see a couple things on Youtube. She is from Mexico but one video I saw is more traditional Mexican music vs. jazz. I think she is early in her career so hopefully we'll hear more from her going forward.

I do hear the similarities between Veronica Swift and Irene Kral. Veronica is an excellent scatter and that is very hard to pull off well IMO.

Samara Joy is another new vocalist I've heard on my local jazz station who is excellent (2019 winner of the Sarah Vaughan competition):

Justin Gigliello isn’t a professional opera singer. For those of you in a position to judge, couldn’t he be, easily? He seems to be way too modest and is working a regular job. Amazing the talent that is out there but it needs to get routed properly so more people can enjoy it. Too much talent out there waiting for a big break when they need to be pursuing all avenues. Just my 2 cents.

Wiki:

Chester Arthur Burnett (June 10, 1910 – January 10, 1976), known professionally as Howlin' Wolf, was an American blues singer, guitarist, and harmonica player. He is regarded as one of the most influential blues musicians of all time. Over a four-decade career, he recorded in genres such as blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and psychedelic rock. He also helped bridge the gap between Delta blues and Chicago blues. Born into poverty in Mississippi as one of six children, he went through a rough childhood where his mother kicked him out of her house, and he moved in with his great-uncle, who was particularly abusive. He then ran away to his father's house where he finally found a happy family, and in the early 1930s became a protégé of legendary Delta blues guitarist and singer, Charley Patton. He started a solo career in the Deep South, playing with other notable blues musicians of the era, and at the end of a decade had made a name for himself in the Mississippi Delta.

+1, I like Howlin’ Wolf and I listen to him from time to time. That London album is interesting as it includes the efforts of other musical luminaries of the era such as Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, and Hubert Sumlin. I’m listening to it now.

I saw it on my local PBS last night. Red Rocks is a well-known outdoor venue here in Colorado FYI.

Two of the standout tracks on the album are “Red House” and "Hear My Train A-Comin'. This album has been one of my favorites for the last few years.

New Body Rhumba, by LCD Soundsystem. A song from the new movie White Noise. Great song, lousy movie.

As we drove by an exit for Bristol on I-84 in CT, I was reminded of the following song that I just had to listen to, The Bristol Stomp. There’s just something about it that is almost hypnotic. It’s not about Bristol, CT, but Bristol, PA.

A great song, brings back fond memories. The shots of the audience are hilarious.
