What are you listening to now

Halfway decent song from Italy, 1973, apparently going viral today. I had never heard of it.

Thank you for posting the link to the full album.
This was a favorite of mine many years ago, and somehow, this one album went missing...
I'm not sure, but I *think* the artwork on the front was different?
It's been a very long time...

“OM chanting + Tibetan Singing Bowls Meditation” by Meditative Mind on YouTube.
Re: What are you listening to now
Seriously Sinatra on SiriusXM radio. Lots of Sinatra songs plus Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, Fred Astaire, etc.
We listened while on a fall foliage ride up US Route 7 from southern Berkshire County in Massachusetts to Bennington, VT and over the Molly Stark Byway (Vermont Route 9) to Hogback Mountain and back home. The foliage was peak in southern Vermont, but it seemed a little muted due to the drought this summer? Stops were made for Cider Donuts, Pumpkin Whoopie Pies, Vermont Cheddar Cheese, and dinner in Pittsfield, MA. Music by Sinatra and his contemporaries isn’t my favorite, but it fit in very well with the relaxed pace of the day.

We did this trip in September 2018 but we were a few weeks too early for the peak. And we didn’t listen to any special music as you did.eddot98 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 8:41 pm Seriously Sinatra on SiriusXM radio. Lots of Sinatra songs plus Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, Fred Astaire, etc.

We first walked the Freedom Trail in Boston. Then we took a road trip to Hartford where my forebears were pioneers, stopping for lunch at Mystic Pizza and to see the seaport there. We toured the Mark Twain mansion in Hartford (worth it). We stayed the night at a Hilton which was an unpleasant experience. I demanded and got our money back (actually points, but we got them all back) so our stay was free.
We then drove north through MA to Vermont, toured Ben & Jerry’s in Waterbury, overnighted at a BnB in Stowe, then east to New Hampshire and the White Mountains (so beautiful). Turning south we returned to Boston.
I’d been to Boston before and since then but It was my first and so far only visit to these other areas and I enjoyed myself immensely. I was struck by the natural beauty as well as all the quaint architecture I saw everywhere. I’ll do it again someday. The pandemic has put a stop to most of our travels.

Lots of people feel very strongly about where they were born, where they were raised, and where they live now, and I respect that, but there’s just something special about New England and, although I have visited some wonderful places both in the US and abroad, I will never live anywhere else.Nicolas wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:32 pmWe did this trip in September 2018 but we were a few weeks too early for the peak. Your trip sounds like a whirlwind, but you did manage to hit a few high spots. Stowe, VT is a gem. Before the pandemic we would spend a week there every year during the first week in October chasing peak foliage. Mostly we would hit it, a few times we were too early. It’s a crapshoot.
Today I am listening to A Hard Road by John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.

Re: What are you listening to now
Spent tonight watching two tribute concerts to George Harrison:
1) Concert for George - at the Royal Albert Music Hall, 2003, one year after Harrison's death from cancer. With Eric Clapton as musical producer, and featuring George's closest friends and colleagues: Clapton, McCartney, Starr, Petty, Lynne, Preston, Shankar, Brown...fantastic camera work, and first-rate performances.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0380275/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
2) George Fest - at the Fonda Theater in LA, 2016, arranged by Dhani Harrison. The performers were drawn from folks who grew up with Harrison's music post-Beatles, and thus they were a little less constrained in their interpretations. I was really impressed with Norah Jones and Brandon Flowers and Ann Wilson and "Weird" Al Yankovic (truly!) and The Black Ryder. I was saddened by a clearly befuddled Brian Wilson...

The Kinks have a very special place in my music listening history. I was in my early teens when You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night came out. It was really the beginning of the hard rock, grunge, and a harbinger of the punk eras. As Ray Davies matured and took more control of the direction of the Kinks, they issued their best work, IMHO - starting with Face to Face, Something Else, Village Green Preservation Society, Arthur, Lola vs Powerman and the Moneygoround, and Muswell Hillbillies. You Know What I Mean wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 7:36 pmGreat lyrics. I have at least 3 copies of the Arthur album, the original US vinyl, a 1986 cd, and the Sanctuary double cd. But rather than listening to one of those wonderful albums, I’m going to put on their last album, To the Bone, the US 2 cd version. It includes one of the best versions of I’m Not Like Everybody Else.

The Blues Show - WXPN with Johnny Meister streaming live on XPN.org (WXPN radio in Philadelphia PA).
I was pleasantly surprised to meet someone at the Bogleheads Conference who thanked me for mentioning this show.
I also want to mention the follow-on show: Blue Dimensions - WXPN with Johnny Meister. The description belies what he plays - very innovative with lots of stuff that's "out there".
I have no idea if Blues Dimensions is available on Spotify or Apple Music (what the member said he streamed it from), but you can definitely stream it live with your web browser - it's at the top of the XPN.org page.

Re: What are you listening to now
Today I met someone from Chicago who reminded me of fun times in blues bars back in the 1990s.
Jimmy Johnson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_SF60Ldyq8
The night I saw him, he was under the weather. After the first set he apologized and said his son would fill in for the rest of the night. I wish I remembered the name of his son because that young man was absolutely blistering on guitar. 10x the energy of this video. I wonder what happened to him.
A.C. Reed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5NvsyQbaDw
Blues saxophone, a little different. A very entertaining show. He drank scotch and milk all night long.
Neither of them made it really big, but I enjoyed their music for a short time, and again today.

Most people are familiar with the Marty Robbins song "El Paso", about a gunslinger's tragic romance, but did you know that it has a sequel telling the story from the young woman's point of view, and also a third telling from the singer's point of view? The other two aren't quite as good, but still worth a listen I think.

A friend played guitar and sang it during our wedding ceremony -- lovely. We heard and saw Paul do it live at a concert in TX a few years ago -- awesome to hear a Beatle singing your wedding song live.Doom&Gloom wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 12:28 pmThe original was their best album imo. I wore mine out when it was released.Nicolas wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 11:19 am Revolver (Super Deluxe) — The Beatles (released today)

Gosh, not sure how I missed this! Wow, The Killer is gone. I like a lot of his work, but since my interests lean towards country, I enjoy his country music the most. For example, What's Made Milwaukee Famous. Think I'll go listen to a little Jerry Lee Lewis now.sycamore wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:03 pm Jerry Lee Lewis... time to add him to "Rock & Roll Heaven."

Re: What are you listening to now
I became familiar with Yes around the time of my HS graduation with their release of Fragile, then later became a big fan when they released their three disc live album, Yessongs. Most of the material came from their 1972 tour. In 2015, Yes released a box set from the tour - Progeny, Seven Shows from Seventy Two.
I’m listening to the show from October 31, 1972 from the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. It’s nice. In many ways much better audio quality than the Yessongs discs. Looking forward to checking out the other concerts. Listening in Apple Music.

Yeah he's famous for that, among other things. He sure had an interesting life.Kookaburra wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 9:11 pmDidn’t he marry his 13 year old cousin or something?sycamore wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:03 pm Jerry Lee Lewis... time to add him to "Rock & Roll Heaven."

Thanks for posting! The new mix has individual instruments and left/right channel sounding more separate & defined. Like on She Said, She Said there's some prominent chiming/jangly guitar sounds I don't recall before. At least a couple songs feel more muted than previous mixes. For a Beatles fan it's all goodNicolas wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 11:19 am Revolver (Super Deluxe) — The Beatles (released today)
