how about the Bremerton Ferry? Plenty of parking, low cost for walk ons, and if you get bored you can get off on the otherside?
I may be thrown overboard and forfeit the free return ticket. :|

what's the frequency of the seattle area meetups? Is this thread the best way to keep up to date or is there a different communication channel off the board?

Based on my schedule so far this year, I'm looking to transition the Seattle Chapter Organizer role to someone. If organizing and leading the meetings sounds fun to you, please reach out to me at seattlebogleheads@gmail.com. Include a short note about what led you to Bogleheads and why you're interested in organizing. Thanks!

I'm tempted to apply for the organizer position but wanted to ask the other Seattle area folks a few questions before I do.

I live/work on the far east side so downtown Seattle is a challenge for me, is continuing to meet in Bellevue a problem?

Would anyone be interested in a Friday lunch meeting on a regular basis?

I live eastside also, so Bellevue or even a little more east is desired. A meeting in Seattle is not worth the travel to me unless there is a special guest speaker. A regular lunch meeting every month or every other month or even quarterly would be of interest. Friday works great.

Eastside. Perhaps make it in downtown Bellevue which, while the traffic is horrendous, at least has parking and a bus terminal for Seattle residents.

Eastside should have their own chapter... Seattle meetups should be in Seattle proper, so people can walk, bike, transit to the meetup. Eastside is a mess of horrible traffic.

It seems we have a lot more opinions about where the meeting should be than we have people who are actually willing to organize the meeting.

If Elsebet will organize and have meetings on the eastside that is better than waiting another 6 months for someone else to volunteer.

Hi guys!

I am planning a lunch meeting on Friday, September 14 at 11:30am at Bellevue Brewing Company.
Please RSVP here or to seattlebogleheads@gmail.com before Monday, September 10 so I know whether
or not I need to make a reservation. I will have a small Bogleheads sign on the table and
will wear a little Bogleheads name tag of some sort with my username so you can identify me.

The recent Age in Bonds Fails Almost Everyone thread was interesting to me so that will be the main topic, bring your opinions on the subject.

Thanks Elsebet for taking the initiative to set this up. I appreciate the Eastside location and you selected a good topic for the meeting. Unfortunately I have travel plans then so I will have to look forward to the following meeting to attend.

Of course, looking forward to it! We're starting at 11:30am but I'll probably be there by 11:15am to grab a table.

I would say this was a great success! 6 of us showed up for lunch (including me) and we had a great conversation about bonds, 401k programs at companies, and more! Thank you to all who took the time to come out, I really enjoyed meeting you all!

One of the great questions from one member was about doing something more for the community rather than just having lunch. As a volunteer Master Gardener this really energized me. I'd love for people to think about something Bogleheads could do for the non-Boglehead community as a way of reaching out, helping others, and potentially attracting new Bogleheads!

Look for another meeting in November! I welcome ideas for other venues too. Bellevue Brewing Company is a good spot but can be tricky to find the first time (it's behind and to the right of a restaurant called Angelo's).

Thanks for setting up and hosting the meeting today! Good to meet some local fellow Bogleheads! Unfortunately I won’t be in town in November but would like to hear what comes about. I should also note that I am a Master Gardener (Snohomish County) so I understand a little about your community connection idea! Looking forward to future sessions.

I initially first posted about a year ago when we decided to get our act together. Have been lurking and hopefully learning since.

Hi Cliff,

We will be meeting again in November, most likely the 16th in the Bellevue area. I'll send details out soon.

The next Seattle Bogleheads lunch meeting will be Friday, November 16 at 11:30am at Bellevue Brewing Company.
Please RSVP here or to seattlebogleheads@gmail.com before Monday, November 12 so I know how many to expect.
I will have a small Bogleheads sign on the table so don't be shy!

Menu:

This place can be tricky to find the first time. If you see a restaurant called Angelo's, it's behind and to the right of that building.
The doors open at 11:30am and it gets crowded quickly!

Since it's close to Thanksgiving, I think it would be interesting to think about people in your life who have helped you
along your path to financial independence. If you like, be prepared to talk a bit about that person or persons with the group!

If you can't make this meeting, we will have another in January 2019 where we will discuss healthcare in early retirement! Venue suggestions welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
