Hello RTP Boglehead friends,

I posted a recommended driving approach for Saturday's meeting, in light of the explosion cleanup activities that may still be going on at that time. For the details please see this link:

Thanks.

Hey Steve, I just found out that this RTP Boggleheads group exists. Looks like you all had a meeting recently. When's the next one? I'd love to attend!

Hi thefyuriy,

Not certain yet on exactly when the next meeting will be, however there's a good possibility it would be around July or August. Best way to stay apprised of future meetings is to join the rtpbogleheads yahoo email group, so that way you'd be sure to receive the notice by email. Second best way is to just watch this topic where I will also post announcements. Since you have already posted to the topic I am pretty sure you'll automatically receive notifications when new postings are made here.

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I think normally you will only receive notifications if somebody quotes your post. However, next to the "reply" button on a thread, there is a little wrench icon where you can "subscribe" to the thread and get notified of updates.

Hi Steve.

Must I create a Yahoo e-mail address to receive the Yahoo group messages? Some initial research says yes but I thought I would double check. I didn't see a way to PM you through the Boglehead site which is why I am using this master thread. I live in Raleigh and recently decided to do my own investing largely because of the principles eschewed here. I am interested in participating in a local chapter of like minded folks.

Hello Shy,
Try sending an email to "rtpbogleheads-subscribe@yahoogroups.com" with subscribe as the subject line, and also as the message body. Hopefully that will work. Could you let me know how it goes?
Thanks!

Hi,

New to the group. Is this local group still active? I don't see any posts in quite a while. I'm late getting back on the investing bandwagon after a 15 year absence and trying to play catch up for retirement, hopefully in 5 years. I look forward to connecting with some locals and learning about the current options available to managing my accounts. I've talked with a few financial advisors and they have all said we can manage this on our own without the need to pay someone. I'm not sure if that is code for "we don't want your business" or "you don't have enough in your portfolio for our time" or they truly mean I won't gain any benefit from their assistance. I recently purchased the book and am hoping to connect with this community as I work my way through this process.

Hello, and welcome. This group meets quarterly and the next in person meeting would have been in March. Covid put the kibosh on that.

Thanks! I'm glad to know this chapter is still active and I totally understand COVID has impacted and changed a lot. Looking forward to connecting with local members and learning to master this process.

Hello RTP Boglehead friends,

Ed Tower has graciously agreed to host another virtual chapter meeting
at 9:30 AM on Saturday December 5. Zoom instructions will be posted to
the group's email list ahead of the meeting, but I wanted to share timing now in case
you want to make note on your calendar.

Bill Shultheis' new book is coming out on November 24: "The Coffeehouse
Investor's Ground Rules: Save, Invest, and Plan for a Life of Wealth and
Happiness". Maybe if any of us have a chance to read it before the
meeting that could be one of the discussion topics. See
https://www.amazon.com/Coffeehouse-Inve ... 1119717086

As for our Yahoo Groups email list: it will be migrating soon to another
platform... stay tuned for further updates.

Thanks and best wishes.
