Starter portfolio help: Mauritius

Country of Residence: Mauritius

International Lifestyle: Expat. Based outside of mauritius. No longterm permanent residence outside Mauritius. Currently in Kazakhstan

Currency: USD

Emergency funds: Three to six months of expenses

Debt: 0, interested in buying a house in 5 years

Desired Asset allocation: 80% stocks / 20% bonds

20% AGGG iShares Core Global Aggregate Bond (Unhedged)

What type of help are you looking for? In general, this portfolio is about as simple and effective as you could achieve, unless there is something special about your tax situation (and I don't know anything at all about tax in either of the countries you mention).

Just to check, you are not a US citizen or green card holder, right? (If you are, that changes a lot of things.)

I believe Mauritius has removed restrictions on foreign currency transfer and transactions. The country does not levy taxes on dividends nor on capital gains, even on foreign stocks. Of course, as a NRA one would be advised to use UCITS ETFs and the choices mentioned would be good. However the mauritian currency has been losing value against the dollar, during the past several years. The best choice should be usd based. IBKR states that it does accept customers from Mauritius.
