I would like to include in a forum posting a link to a particular thread, as I have seen many others do. However, I cannot see how to do this. Please pass along how this is done.

I usually just type the plain-text description first, select it, then click the "chainlink" button above edit window box. That automatically slaps the "url" junk around my text.
Then I just add in the equals sign into the opening url, paste in the actual url, and boom! Done.
By the way, there's a nice help page for all of these tricks that you can access by clicking the BBCode link that appears to the right of the edit box when you're posting.
