There was one; they met last year some time, down in South Denver somewhere at a restaurant. It isn't very active or very large.BsmartSM wrote:I did not see a chapter for metro Denver...any interest?

Wondering why not much interest in metro Denver? How do other groups get going?

Someone has to be willing to play the Energizer Bunny. Just keep posting and posting... and postingBsmartSM wrote:Wondering why not much interest in metro Denver? How do other groups get going?
Eventually enough eyeballs will see that something is happening and you'll draw in a few others. Although the
Bogleheads forum gets a lot of traffic, only a fraction will notice something posted in the Local Chapter's sub-forum.
Suggest a date and location... for starters. Then show up. ( Do that enough times and others will take notice. )

Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
If it were on the south side of Denver, and offered interesting topics and speakers, I'd attempt to drive up from the Springs for it. But I also travel for work a lot so I often find that I can't make it to these things if they are during the week. If it happens on a weekend, I may want to attend but find I'm not enthused about driving up to Denver on the weekend when I'll have to drive up again the next day to go to DIA. But I would be interested so go for it!

Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
If South Metro is the better choice, perhaps we could just choose a day, time, and place and see what happens. Downtown is not very appealing except maybe on a weekend.

Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
I'd be game. Somewhere close to the light rail would be ideal
Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
I would go. Agree that south Denver is the way to go to make it feasible for people who live in Castle Rock and the Colorado Springs.
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
If you take the RTD Lincoln Ave line southbound to second to last stop (County Line) that's the Park Meadows mall with easy walk to a number of restaurants. Changs is a bit noisy (a tad expensive) but upscale Asian and awesome view of the front range. if driving from CO Springs, I25 north then west at County Line then left at the light into the mall. Changs on your left.tycho wrote:I'd be game. Somewhere close to the light rail would be ideal

If you all decide to have it Bellevue or south I would be in.
Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
I am in. I am in between Castle Rock and Col Springs, so south Denver is good for me

Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
Yes there is/was a Denver Local Chapter (see #40 at this link):
https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewe ... rz5wHiBB7s
If the listed Local Chapter Coordinator is no longer active, then someone else needs to step up and agree to handle that chore. If you're interested, contact me via PM.
Looks like there is a lot of interest in getting this Denver group going again, so let's make it happen.

I would also be interested! I know that many of my coworkers would be as well. We live about an hour away from Denver, but if it's big enough, it would be worth the drive.

Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
Would like to get a sense of how many folks are interested in a regular meeting? I'm willing to take the lead.......
I was thinking about quarterly meetings ( to start) at the Louisville Public Library, Louisville Colorado - I can reserve a room on an ongoing basis. I'll through out some food for thought since I'm new to the forum, some context about me and some on the venue.
I live in Louisville and am willing to donate the time and effort to get this chapter going.
* Been reading from mentor mentors for about 25 years.... John Bogle, Bill Bernstein, Benjamin Graham, Malkiel, Fama, French.
*Been invested in Vanguard (after a move from Fidelity) .....about 25 years ago.
*I'm in tech, engineering with an degree in Finance about 20 years ago.
*Made lots of mistakes along the way but am finally seeing the light.
*Have read this form over the years and want to contribute back.
*Louisville Library has two rooms, one holds 30 another 75, we can reserve in advance
*lot's of places to socialize, have dinner or lunch if we want
*Topics for the first meeting - CD Ladders, Roth Conversions, Credit Unions, College Funding and Tuition
Comments?
Thanks
Mark

Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
I'd be interested, but with a 3-year-old and 6-month-old at home in actually getting away to attend may be a challenge. I live in Stapleton.

I am interested for sure.

I’d be interested as well, work in the Tech Center, so south would be a consistently better option for me. I could make it to Louisville occasionally. Let’s get it going!

I would be interested. I live south. Not sure how often I could make it to Louisville. It would be nice to rotate locations and venues if possible.

Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
I'm still interested. Happy to meet in Boulder, Denver, or anywhere in between.
Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
I am also interested. I’m in western Nebraska, so I can’t be a regular, but I’ll attend when I can.
Re: metro Denver Bogleheads?
We've been kicking this around for nearly 2 years . . . anyone willing to take a leadership role in getting this organized? I'm just not in a position right now to do so.

Is the metro Denver chapter still active? If not, please respond if you would be interested in attending meetings and I will volunteer to be the chapter coordinator if there is enough interest. Thanks!
