Thanks to all who attended our Feb meeting, especially those coming from Orlando and Sarasota! We're still growing, with 19 attendees (if we count the cute 8 month old who brought her parents), and a nice blend of young and old.

We had two member presentations: one addressing Philosophy vs. Strategy (a la Rick Ferri) comparing the cap weighted 3 Fund Portfolio vs. a Sliced & Diced approach, and the other expanding upon the 3 Fund Portfolio and general BH principles. Following that, we had a terrific Q&A session on various topics (too numerous to list).

We decided to continue our quarterly meeting schedule, with next meeting in May, and we'll try to re-book the West Tampa Branch Library again, as it worked out very well. For those interested, you can sign up for our chapter email list/website at... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads.

Our next quarterly meeting will be a Zoom session, on Sat May 16th, from 2-4+ PM. The meeting link will distributed next week via our chapter email group. This time around, we'll just have an open Q&A session, addressing whatever topics come up. We hope everybody is doing well, and look forward to eventually resuming in-person meetings later this year.

I forgot my p/w for the group. I want to update my email since I retired in January I now use my gmail account. Unfortunately it's sending the reset code to my old work email I think. Is there another way to update the p/w and email?

Thanks to all who participated in our May video meeting. At least with Zoom, the "snowbirds" could join us from afar! We had a nice wide-ranging discussion (too many topics to summarize here), but it sounded like everybody has been "staying the course!" Jack would be proud!

The consensus was to continue with quarterly meetings, so we'll aim for next one in early-mid August. Hopefully we'll be able to meet in-person by then, but we'll play it by ear.

In the meantime, wishing everybody the best!

For those of you in the Tampa Bay area, our next chapter meeting will be another Zoom session, on Sat Aug 8, from 2 - 4 PM.

In addition to our usual open Q&A session, one of the organizers for the 2020 BH Conference will give us a brief update, and one of our members will give a brief presentation on asset allocation, and other investing perspectives.

Additional meeting details and Zoom link will be shared via our chapter email list/website... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads

Until then, stay safe!

Thanks to all who attended our Aug 8 virtual meeting. Gail Cox (from the John C. Bogle Foundation Board) gave us an update on the “virtual” Bogleheads Annual Meeting being planned for Oct. We also had Greg (Sacramento Chapter Coordinator) and Miriam (South Florida Chapter Coordinator) joining in to observe how we conduct our virtual meetings, and give feedback. New local member Paul (an industry professional) shared some economic forecasts and other investing perspectives. We discussed numerous other topics, too lengthy to list here.

Of note, the group decided to advance from quarterly, to every other month, meetings. Our next meeting will likely be in Oct, but we'll need to work around the BH Annual Meeting date (TBD). Also, since we're only meeting virtually for now, we agreed to look into alternative meeting days/times, to better accommodate everybody. We'll discuss various options via our email group/website.

Just want to say how impressed we were, sleepysurf, with your very professional and warm zoom coordinator and moderator skills. You conducted a great meeting, covered many topics, very interesting, good flow and nice transitions, and your guest answered a wide range of questions. Thank you so much :happy

Our next Tampa Bay chapter meeting (on Zoom, again) will be Tue, Oct 20, from 7 - 9 PM.

In Aug we decided to proceed with meetings every other month, and try meeting on a weeknight (at least while we're only virtual).

As usual, we'll have casual open Q&A discussion on whatever topics come up. However, to start, we can discuss some of the topics covered in yesterdays ChooseFi webinar, that featured Rick Ferri, Larry Swedroe, and Paul Merriman. It was an excellent discussion with a very BH-ish perspective. For those interested, here are the links for the replay (ended up being 2 parts due to technical difficulties)...

First part (duration 1:11:00)... https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v= ... _permalink
Second part (duration 57:30)... https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v= ... _permalink

Additional meeting details and Zoom link will be shared via our chapter email list/website... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads

We'll also invite some of the local ChooseFI members to participate.

Thanks to all who participated in our Oct meeting, with special thanks to Miriam2 for getting the South Florida Chapter involved (and stepping up to help "herd cats" during the Zoom session). It was a special treat to have Taylor Larimore and everybody else share their perspectives. We'll likely schedule our next meeting mid-Dec, before the holidays. Until then, wishing everybody the best!

Thank you sleepysurf for inviting the South Florida chapter to participate and for hosting such a nice meeting :D Your zoom skills are awesome and I enjoyed your herding cats description! I noticed we had 36 participants (36 participant zoom windows), but some zoom windows had more than one person attending. It was a very spirited and interesting personal finance meeting that was even more special with Taylor's participation 8-)

We can also follow up on topics covered from the upcoming Bogleheads Speaker Series.

Additional meeting details will be shared via our chapter email list/website... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads

Looking forward to another lively discussion!

Update re the April 27th Tampa/South FL chapters joint meeting with Mark Zoril. The local Chapter Coordinators have decided to start including Zoom links in the Bogleheads Calendar of Events... https://www.bogleheads.org/blog/calendar-of-events/

We'll have a number of Moderators to ensure things run smoothly.

This meeting isn't intended to be an "infomercial", but rather an opportunity to hear their investing philosophy and perspectives on topics of general interest to the BH community. If there's sufficient interest, we'll schedule a follow-up meeting with them for a "deeper dive" into their PlanVision service (and the eMoney platform).

Our Zoom meeting with Mark and Jason was terrific. They offered astute perspectives on a variety of topics, and graciously answered many questions. Thanks again to Miriam2, HoosierJim, and Keith, who helped as Moderators, and all the participants for their attention and great questions.

Our exit poll showed the overwhelming majority wanted a follow-up full demo of the Planvision service, and eMoney platform. We're hoping to schedule that in a month or two.

We ended up recording most of the meeting, and HoosierJim (from the Chicago Virtual BH Chapter) is editing it, along with some other meetings. We'll post the link once available.

A big thanks to HoosierJim for editing, and also hosting it (for the time being) on his Chicago Virtual Chapter YouTube account.

Of note, we'll be partnering with the South FL Chapter again for a follow-up meeting Tue, June 22, 8 PM (EDT) where Mark Zoril and Jason Lynch will be demo'ing their Planvision service and eMoney platform. Save the date, and stay tuned for more details shortly.

For the time being, we'll continue our "every other month" meeting schedule virtually on Zoom. Once we can safely resume in-person meetings, we'll alternate between the two. If you reside in the Tampa Bay area, and wish to join our Chapter, you can do so here... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads.

Our next meeting (jointly hosted with South FL, but open to all BH's) will be Tue, June 22nd, starting 8 PM *EDT* with guests Mark Zoril and Jason Lynch, to demo their Planvision service. For those who missed our April meeting with them, or wish to watch it again, the (edited) recording is now available here... https://www.bogleheads.org/blog/2021/04 ... son-lynch/

You can (anonymously) RSVP for the June meeting here...
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... sp=sf_link

The Zoom link will be posted in the BH Calendar of Events at least one week prior to the meeting, and also emailed to our local members. We are planning to record their presentation.

Disclaimer: I recently signed up for the Planvision service, mainly for a 2nd opinion on my BH portfolio and Roth Conversion strategy. I have no other financial relationship with them, but thought their investing philosophy and low-cost advice model would be of interest to many Bogleheads.

For background, here are Bios for Mark and Jason, and you can read more about Planvision here... https://planvisionmn.com/
Mark Zoril
As the founder of PlanVision, Mark has 27 years of direct client work experience in the financial services industry. He started his career helping smaller companies establish employer based retirement plans. However, his efforts over the years evolved to primarily helping individuals plan and prepare for their financial futures.

Jason Lynch
Jason joined PlanVision in February 2020 after spending the last 18 years in private accounting as a controller, business manager, and consultant. He also spent 12 years in public accounting concentrating in tax with high net worth clients and their businesses. He’s been indexing since the mid-90’s and is a true Boglehead having attended the national conference in 2016 and is a regular presenter in his local Bogleheads chapter. Jason became a PlanVision client after hearing Mark’s Doughroller interview and is thrilled to have a platform to help clients and share his knowledge.

Thank you LadyGeek for posting all the recordings, and HoosierJim (Chicago Virtual Chapter) for editing them. We had over 90 attendees for the June 22nd virtual presentation!

Our next Tampa Bay meeting is tentatively slated for mid-August. We're hoping to be able to resume in-person meetings at that time, and will likely alternate with virtual meetings thereafter.

We invite all local Tampa Bay area Bogleheads to sign up for our chapter email list/website at... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads.
As we're growing, we could really use a second volunteer Co-Coordinator, to help with programming and further chapter development. If interested, please PM me!

Our next meeting will be in-person, on Sat, Aug 14, from 3-5 PM, at the West Tampa Branch Library (centrally located off I-275 and I-4). The meeting room is fairly large, so we can spread out a bit. Masks optional.

We'll have open Q&A, discussing whatever topics are on your mind. Volunteers are welcome to give short presentations. The room has A/V capability, if needed.

We invite all Tampa Bay Bogleheads within driving distance to join us. You can sign up for our chapter email list/website at... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads, where you can also RSVP, suggest discussion topics, etc.

Looking forward to seeing our "regulars" and "newbies" in-person, vs. inside Zoom boxes!

Unfortunately, given the local rise of the Delta variant, we've had to change our meeting next Sat to Zoom. Since the agenda was just a casual Q&A session, we'll proceed with such virtually, discussing whatever is on participants minds. At least this will allow other geographically remote Bogleheads to participate, if interested.

The meeting will be Sat Aug 14, from 3-5 PM *EASTERN*, and will NOT be recorded. The Zoom link will be posted in the BH Calendar of Events.

Thanks for your understanding! Hopefully we can comfortably meet in-person for our Oct meeting.

Just a final reminder about our Zoom meeting this afternoon at 3 PM *Eastern*. Since it's virtual, members outside the Tampa Bay region are welcome to participate. This will just be a casual Q&A session, so you can ask anything, and benefit from the collective wisdom of the group! The Zoom link has been posted in the BH Calendar of Events.

Apologies for the short notice. Our next chapter meeting will be on Zoom again, next Tue, Oct 26, from 8-10 PM (Eastern). It will not be recorded. The Zoom link has been posted in the BH Calendar of Events, and also via our chapter email group... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads

We'll just have casual open Q&A, perhaps informally discussing year-end tax planning considerations, and whatever else is on your minds. Since it's virtual, snowbirds on the move, and other remote BH's, are welcome to join in.

Hopefully we'll be able to hold an in-person meeting next time (possibly mid-Dec). If you reside in the local Tampa Bay area (or are a seasonal snowbird), you can sign up for our chapter email group at the link above.

Looking forward to seeing our "regulars" and any "newbies" next Tue!

Just a quickie reminder about tomorrow's Zoom meeting starting 8 PM Eastern. We can discuss inflation, current stock market valuations, low bond yields, etc. or whatever else is on participants minds. See Zoom link in the BH Calendar of Events. The meeting will NOT be recorded.

Hello Tampa Bay Bogleheads and Happy New Year! 🌴 8-)

Our next South Florida Bogleheads chapter zoom meeting is Wed. Jan. 26, 2022, from 8:00 pm-10:00 pm ET

We are celebrating Taylor Larimore's 98th Birthday :D Taylor turns 98 years young on Jan. 25, 2022!

Please join us, along with Bogleheads from around the country and Canada, in wishing him a happy birthday and honoring his many accomplishments. Taylor was the inspiration creating the Bogleheads in 1998, then called the Vanguard Diehards on Morningstar, as a personal finance forum discussing the investing philosophy of Jack Bogle, and in 2007, the Bogleheads.org site was created. All along, Taylor has set the tone of decent and intelligent discussion and personal help. Jack Bogle called Taylor, "The King of the Bogleheads." 8-)

RSVP for the meeting and submit questions for Taylor HERE. All responses are anonymous, reservations are helpful but not required to attend.

The zoom link is here and is also posted on the Bogleheads Calendar of Events.

Questions? Please email SFLBogleheads@gmail.com or PM me.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and enjoying this very special meeting :happy

Happy Birthday to the man, the “King”, the Legend, Mr. Taylor Larimore! Just getting connected with the forum now after reading The Bogleheads’ Guide to Investing. Wish I saw this just a few days prior; are there any other local/zoom events coming up in the Tampa/Sarasota area? Cheers to all!

Our local Tampa Bay Chapter is active, with Zoom meetings during the pandemic. We've reverted back to a quarterly schedule, so our next meeting will be early April, possibly in-person, depending on Covid situation.

For those in the local Tampa Bay area, you can sign up for our chapter email group here… https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads

Our Tampa Bay Chapter will hold it's next quarterly meeting, in-person, on Sat, April 9th, from 3-5 PM, at the West Tampa Branch Library (masks recommended, but optional). The meeting room is fairly large, so we'll have the option to spread out. The location is centrally located near I-275 and I-4, for those commuting from adjacent counties.

It will be a casual Q&A session discussing whatever is on participants minds. If feasible, we'll try to offer a simultaneous Zoom session for those more geographically remote (but can't promise that yet).

We invite Bogleheads of all ages, and life stages, from Tampa Bay and surrounding areas to join us. You can sign up for our chapter email list/website at... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads, where you can also RSVP, suggest discussion topics, etc.

Looking forward to seeing our "regulars" and "newbies" in-person once again!

Stay tuned for more updates.

Reminder and update, for our upcoming chapter meeting on Sat, April 9, from 3-5+ PM, in the Tony Garcia Community Room at the West Tampa Branch Library. It will be an open Q&A discussion, primarily in-person, but we'll also experiment with a simultaneous Zoom session for a handful of remote participants. The Zoom link has been sent to chapter members, and has also been posted in the BH Calendar of Events.

We invite Bogleheads of all ages, and life stages, from the Tampa Bay region to join us. You can sign up for our chapter email list/website at... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads, where you can also RSVP, suggest discussion topics, etc.

Thanks to all who attended our in-person (plus Zoom) meeting Saturday. The "hybrid" format worked fairly well. We had a great discussion covering a variety of topics (too many to list here). Afterwards, some of us grabbed drinks and munchies at a nearby eatery.

For now, we'll continue our quarterly meeting schedule, with next meeting in July, hopefully in-person, possibly with the hybrid format again.

In the meantime, local Tampa Bay area Bogleheads are invited to join our email group, for meeting updates, and programming suggestions... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads

Our next (quarterly) meeting will be Sat July 9, at the West Tampa Branch Library, from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Masks optional. It will be an open Q&A discussion covering whatever topics are on participants minds. Afterwards, for those interested, we can meet for lunch at a nearby eatery.

We'll again use a "hybrid" meeting format, mainly in-person, but also on Zoom (for a limited number of remote participants). The meeting will NOT be recorded.

As usual, we invite Bogleheads of all ages, and life stages, from the Tampa Bay region to join us. You can sign up for our chapter email list/website at... https://groups.io/g/tampabaybogleheads, where you can also RSVP, suggest discussion topics, etc.

FYI, our next (quarterly) meeting will be Sat, Oct 8, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the West Tampa Branch Library. This will be an in-person meeting (masks optional), but we'll consider offering hybrid Zoom meetings again in the summer to accommodate "snowbirds."

As before, we'll have open Q&A discussion covering whatever topics are on participants minds. Afterwards, for those interested, we can meet for lunch at a nearby eatery.
