Hello,

Any chance there will be a Webex/Skype available for those not able to attend in person to still be able to participate/contribute?

Thank you!

Not this time... I will float the question and see if anything can be done. One complication is that the meeting room seems to have poor mobile phone signal, at least for some networks.

I have Verizon and have NEVER had cellphone reception in the meetings, except for today. I sat next to the steps and was surprised to discover that I had service. BTW, the meeting was helpful and interesting, as always.

The next meeting of the Detroit Chapter will be Saturday March 2nd, 10:30 AM to 12 noon.

We will focus on Jack Bogle... we'll select a few video clips from a Q&A with Jack and use these clips as a springboard for brief discussions on some of Jack's opinions. Hopefully, we capture the essence of who he was and what he did.

Address: (Our usual meeting place)

Many thanks to the organizers of these chapter meetings. I attended for the first time this past weekend and thought that the presentation and discussion topics were interesting and informative. Also, thank you to the group for making a newbie feel welcome. Looking forward to attending more local chapter meetings in the future!!

I have a topic request for the Detroit area chapter.

I'd like to hear about insurance: Auto, Home, Umbrella, Health, Life. With specifics about MI. (I know something just changed that affect the interaction between auto and health, but not sure what).

Thanks

Definitely no in-person meeting. We are thinking of a virtual meeting soon but no definite plan. We need a good subject.

Online Meeting Saturday Oct. 3 2020

    Post by daytona084 »

Our next meeting will be an online meeting, next Saturday, October 3rd, at 10:30 AM.

We have several suggestions for topics -

    • The changes to the Michigan Auto Insurance. If you have not renewed in the last few months, you might not have given this much thought. I recently renewed, so I can make a short presentation on what I did. Everyone is welcome to add their questions and comments.
    • Dollar cost averaging vs. buying a fixed number of shares.... Anyone willing to prepare some info on this? Bring your questions and comments.
    • If time permits - Have you had to make any changes due to the pandemic?
    • If time permits - Preparing an investment policy statement. (We have covered this fairly recently but it's always a good topic.)
Please email "detroitbogleheads@yahoo.com" for the link to join the meeting.

    Hi Zhuang

We are not going to have any more online meetings - We will meet again in person when people are ready.

If you would like to attend meetings of local chapters, check out the Boglehead Calendar of Events - https://www.bogleheads.org/blog/calendar-of-events/

There you will see many local chapters who invite all interested people to join. With so many chapters having these meetings and inviting the public, it does not seem worth the effort to plan our own meetings.
