Searching for Lost Contributors
There have been some great contributors over the years who have not been seen on this forum for some time. I am wondering if anyone has seen them posting or contributing to other forums now that they are gone. The contributors I am looking for are:
HEDGEFUNDI
Steve Reading
Uncorrelated
Uncorrelated use to post on the rational reminder forum, but they have not been seen there recently either. Are there other forums like this one with the same level of discussion?

Re: Searching for Lost Contributors
I suspect that Steve Reading is not “gone”, he has only been away for a month. Many of us get deeply involved in work projects and/or take time away from the forum.
I post a lot less when traveling (RV).

No worries. It is sad to see them gone. A few educated individuals can significantly improve the discussion on these forums and these are three particularly impactful people. To be honest, each of them has created threads (and countless posts) which have significantly altered my understanding of finance.TdF fan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 12:28 pmAh, apologies. I know a lot of people didn't like/agree with some of what he said, but I think his contributions were always well founded and stimulated conversation and alternative thinking ... which to my mind is always good, even if you don't agree in the end.

Is there a mysterious alternate forum where these people have traveled to, or are they just no longer on threads?

Speaking of great contributors, whodidntante has posted helpful advice on a wide range of topics. Hope to see his return to liven things up with his unique perspective!

Was wondering the same thing. I learned so much from Hedgefundie, I was sad to see him go.
Re: Searching for Lost Contributors
Yep. It was a very interesting exercise, and he made it clear this was not his basic retirement savings; it was his side money to retire really wealthy. I sure wish someone would do yearly updates on how his plan was working out. His thread has wandered into other areas. I was just looking for a yearly update graph.

I miss him too, he is an amazing source of information. He is active in WCI, posting as recently as yesterday.life in slices wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 12:38 pm Spirit Rider hasn't posted since early Feb - I always enjoy his very in depth and knowledgeable posts

I wonder where Earl Lemongrab is. Used to post prolifically and started the Final Definitive Thread on Brokerage Transfer Bonuses, but last active July 16, 2019.

He left permanently. If memory serves, he took exception to being temporarily banned from posting a time or two.

You could always send them a PM. The default board settings cause an e-mail to be triggered when a PM is sent.

Re: Searching for Lost Contributors
I can see this getting to someone. The inability to 'fight back' against a ban must surely be tough to take. Heck, I got a warning that I felt was wrong and quickly deleted it to help me not dwell on it and simply took the wrist slap. Depending on your position in the rest of your life....could drive one to quit.

+1. However, he did participate in virtual BH chapter meetings.

Sometimes people just have a participation life cycle. I recently left a similar board a lot of people here also visit. Moderation became uneven over there.

I’m trying to branch out since the days of Fat Wallet Finance are long gone. Just very few sites left it seems. I can’t stand Mr. Money Moustache or some others like Reddit Personal Finance.

No one knows. Two things we do know are:
He hasn't visited since Thu May 20, 2021 1:07 pm
His post count hit 25000 exactly
It's possible he's taking a break or something.

Thanks. There are some threads I just don’t ever click on and wonder how they can go so long, but not enough to click. But then I miss some of the fun, I guess. Hopefully he will return.000 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 3:11 pmviewtopic.php?p=6036789#p6036789

Very suspicious that he disappeared after exactly 25,000 posts, don’t you think? Maybe he wanted to leave on a dramatic note, and maybe that explains all the “backing up the truck” postsMarseille07 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:58 pmNo one knows. Two things we do know are:

I think some posters have a Forrest Gump moment.
Remember when Forrest was running, and suddenly his running spell was over? That is what I mean by a Forrest Gump moment. Some members post prolifically, and suddenly they are just gone.
Some of those MIA might have health issues, or have passed, or just lost interest.
