Misinformation in locked threads

Post by tadamsmar »

I noticed that some recently locked threads contain misinformation that could lead to financial harm. Since the thread is locked and the topic is not allowed under forum policies, the misinformation cannot be countered with the facts.

Beware of taking advice from locked threads.

If there is something substantive that can be fixed with a link to a wiki entry or some such, you could ask a mod to post it. I've seen a number of mod approved posts to threads that have been locked over the years. Can't hurt to ask them. The problem is kind of self correcting in that locked threads rapidly scroll off the front page.

Did you report these threads to the moderators?

If anyone sees incorrect or misleading information in a locked thread, please report the post using the ! in the top-right corner of the post and explain what's wrong.

Thanks! It's taken care of.

As noted in Re: Forum software upgrade bug reports and change requests, you should get a notification that the reports have been closed.
