Time to give to this website

Post by dwickenh »

I am happy to say another year has passed with many things learned on this site that has saved me time and money. Everyone involved in the website does a tremendous job and I am sure spends many hours making sure it works seamlessly.

I want to say Thank You to all involved with keeping the website going. A donation is the best way I know how.

It's not a lot of money, but if we all chip in, it can be substantial. You can donate at the "Support this Site" link at the top of the web page.

I'm in. This forum and YNAB have had the biggest impacts on keeping my finances in good shape and low stress, and I'm already on the hook the latter for $50 a year...

Thanks for the nudge. I just donated my bonus (which was just a small debit card) to this site and the rest to a local food bank.

Thanks to everyone behind the scenes for keeping this site going and having it be ad and membership free.

I submitted my contribution as well.

I wanted to give my heartfelt thanks to all of the people who make this community possible: the posters who give their knowledge freely, the admins who run this site, the moderators who help keep us all in line.

I'm a relatively new member of this board, but it has truly been a masterclass in personal finance. I always thought myself as somebody who was reasonably knowledgable in personal finance, but I have learned so much in the short time that I've been here:

1. I've switched to the three-fund portfolio (I always used low cost index funds previously so it wasn't that big of a stretch!)
2. I've completed our first Backdoor Roth
3. I've opened up a solo 401k for my wife's business.
4. I am now a Bank of America Platinum Honors member with a Premium Rewards and Cash Rewards Card (only one CR card.. still a newbie :happy)
4a. I earned almost $2K in credit card rewards in 2020 (both new account bonuses and regular reward spending)
5. I've run our retirement projections at open social security and FIRECalc.

I still have a ways to go to be a true Boglehead. I still need to refinance our mortgage (currently at 2.875% but can do better). I will be making my first I-Bond purchase next year with our tax refund. I still need to sell off some of our old individual stock holdings. We don't have a Vanguard or Ally Bank account yet (Fidelity, Merrill Edge, and Discover Bank for now). However, I am walking the path!

Thank you once again to everybody in BH-land. Have a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holidays, and a wonderful New Year!

Definitely worth the donation - though my receipt came from Alex Frakt?
Regardless -- this is one of my primary resources - not just for Vanguard.

It also is one of the sites that I belong to that every discussion doesn't get
bogged down in irrelevant political issues.

Keep up the good work.

This is my first post. During the pandemic, I've learned quite a lot by lurking on Bogleheads.org and my portfolio is in much better shape now. Just by observing the numerous conversations that occur here everyday, you all helped me create a coherent and simplified strategy for investing that matches my personal risk tolerance.

Earlier this week I donated to the John C. Bogle Center for Financial Literacy and will make a donation to this website as soon as I hit the Submit button. It's the least I can do. Thank you.
