Tax question on Interactive Brokers

Post by baseballpup1991 »

Hello,

I am an Indian citizen living in UAE. I just created an account on IB which is approved as well. But I'm pretty sure I didn't see any W-8BEN tax form during the application process, the only thing I saw was if my country has a tax treaty with the US, and UAE was not in the drop down list so I selected No.

Just need to confirm that I won't have to pay capital gains tax when I sell US stocks ? On dividends I know there is 30% tax.

I already have an account with TradeStation where I had to fill the W-8BEN so I'm worried I messed up the IB application.

Cheers :)

I think it is best to call Interactive Brokers support line. They are very helpful in my experience.

... and sounds a bit odd that you didn't get the W-8BEN form
