I recently moved to the Netherlands from the US and am here on a spousal visa (my husband has a work visa).
I thought I could work remote and stay on a W2 with my current employer because I still have a US address I'll be listing for all paperwork. But I think I have to go the 1099 route and register as a business here.
What is unclear to me are if I have any investment options while in the NL and earning USD.
1. Can I do an IRA (Should I only do Roth since NL may tax the money anyways?)
2. Can I do an individual 401k so I could invest my whole income pretax and not pay any taxes (I won't be making that much money). However, I'm not sure if the Netherlands recognizes these retirement accounts or if they will just tax them anyways.
3. Is there any way I can continue to invest in the US while living in the Netherlands besides using a taxable account?
