For 2021, Getcoverednj offered a $95 per person health insurance subsidy in addition to the ACA subsidy. For a family of 4, this NJ subsidy of $380 (4 x $95) was limited to income level at 400% (maybe 399%) of proverty level for the full $95 per person. On tax time came April 2022, if my income exceeds the 400%, will there be a recapture of the subsidy or do I have to pay back a portion of the NJ subsidy?
Also, is the 400% income based on the federal MAGI for ACA or based on NJ gross income? We have received unemployment in 2021, so the gross income amounts are different from federal vs NJ proposes.
NJ Health Insurance State Subsidy Recapture or Pay Back
Re: NJ Health Insurance State Subsidy Recapture or Pay Back
Thanks for raising this topic. I was researching the same but could not find the answer. I am aware that there is clawback at the federal tax level but unsure if it the same at the NJ level.
