Veem (global payment platform)?

Post by tomsense76 »

In most threads about paying or transferring money abroad Wise (formerly TransferWise) and IBRK (Interactive Brokers) come up frequently. The latter IIUC can only be used for transferring between one's own bank accounts.

Was pointed to another one recently called Veem ( https://www.veem.com/ ). Are people familiar with this? Has anyone tried using it? How does it compare to the others in terms of fees, service, support (if issues arise), etc.?

A quick search of the forum didn't show anything. So maybe this is new information.

Since the OP is specifically interested in "transferring money abroad", I moved the topic to the Non-US Investing forum.

It can vary. For some of the work we do (software), it makes sense to contract out some of it for various reasons (outside our wheelhouse, need another pair of hands, an expert would solve more efficiently, etc.). This lends itself well to contracting generally. The work generally just requires one has the skills and tools (computer with internet though sometimes special applications are needed) necessary, but is location independent. Sometimes folks are in the US or contract with US companies, in which case transferring payment is a non-issue. However sometimes they are freelancers working abroad. There is not one specific country, but can think of a few common ones: EU (various), UK, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, Columbia, India, etc.. As we are US based, we are always starting with USD and ending in one of these other currencies.

Wise is good for this use case.

Haven’t heard of Veem.
