How to track preferred stocks at M* or Vanguard

Post by woof755 »

I received a gift of some shares of preferred stocks recently, and I am trying to figure out how to add them to my Morningstar and VG portfolios for tracking purposes.

The symbols are odd and are not recognized by either site.

For example. Wells Fargo & Company Dep Shs 1/1000th Int Perptl A Ser Q is one of the preferred stocks, and the symbol is WFC'Q on the brokerage site. When I google it, the NASDAQ shows it as WFC^P. Neither one is recognized by M* or VG.

The preferred stock has a different share price than WFC itself does.

I wonder if anyone knows a way to accurately track this as part of my overall portfolio using M* or VG?

Thanks, all.
