Cost-effective home webcam?

Post by retiringtype »

Hi everyone. We live in an apartment with our 11-year old dog. Our extremely cranky neighbors complained to us today that the dog cries incessantly when we're out. Their response (idiotic as it might be) is to blast their TV at night so we can easily hear it.

I want to buy a webcam so we can watch and listen to see if our neighbors are being accurate and the dog really does have separation anxiety -- or if they're exaggerating, as we've been told by others on our floor that they're prone to do. (Plus, we're concerned about the happiness of our pup.)

Question: Can anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive camera with a microphone we can connect to our wifi and that will enable us to look in via cell phone? I've seen some expensive options. Would rather not spend a fortune.

Thanks in advance.

Blink should work for what you want. A one camera system is about $100 or so. Easy to set up. Works like it is supposed to work.

Wyze would be cheap easy.

They work good for what you are looking for. No annual subscription costs.

Wyze makes cameras that sell for about $25 and are easy to use. You can have the camera notify you with a video when it captures sound (dog barks).

I’ve had a good experience with this camera from Amazon: Wansview Wireless Security Camera. About $30

You can check in from your phone and listen and move the camera.

Yep, Wyze would work quite well for sound and picture for $25-$35 depending on the modal chosen.
