Post by DTalos »

Which offers a better level of protection in case a product purchased from a company get delivered damaged or is never delivered?

1) Paying with Paypal using Paypal funds

2) Paying with Paypal using a credit card

3) Paying with a credit card not using Paypal.

Is the return/refund process easier with one vs the other?

In all cases if you use an intermediary (square cash, paypal, venmo, etc.) you fall under their fraud policy.

If you use a credit card to fund the intermediary, you can then dispute via your card against the intermediary.. but that may anger the intermediary and they may terminate your account. When you file a dispute, you're filing it against the intermediary.. NOT the fraudster.

In general if you use an intermediary, your fraud claim should start with them.. and if you're unsatisfied and wish to risk blowing up your account, then your credit card can be escalated to.

Personally I avoid intermediaries and use credit cards. They have a well established fraud process.
