Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
Thanks for the heads up -- this is a good deal if you'll be spending at Target anyway.
I took advantage of this offer last year. At one point I forgot I even had the gift card So if you buy one, make sure you remember to spend it!

Thanks!
Yeah, it's only 5% extra compared to using the Red Card, but we spends hundreds at Target every month anyway...

Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
Target is one of the Discover card 5% categories for this quarter, so an opportunity to get a 5% rebate also.
Seems earlier years the limit was $300, but I could be wrong.
Last year I bought the max, put them up in a safe place, and promptly lost them for several months.

And you can pay with PayPal and get another 5% (5X UR points) with Chase Freedom/Freedom Flex.

Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
I should add that last year they had shipping nightmares with the physical cards. If you're intending to buy some as gifts you might rather do it in-store to be safe.
As far as doubling up with PayPal or Discover rewards, do they really apply when buying gift cards?
Edit - yes per slick deals. I'd forgotten from last year, but DO NOT use the Red card to buy these as you won't get extra cash back. Use whatever is your best generic retail cash back card

Note that Target.com is a Discover 5% category. If you buy them in the store you don't get the 5%.Broken Man 1999 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:15 am Target is one of the Discover card 5% categories for this quarter, so an opportunity to get a 5% rebate also.

You can also stack with Rakuten or check cashbackmonitor.com
Right now, Target is 1% on Rakuten. Then pay with Paypal for an extra 5% with the Chase Freedom card.
There are lots of gotchas but stacking is the best, I enjoyed this all weekend long on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. 10-15% cashback easily on stuff I needed anyway for presents and gifts.

If you are a Target Circle member, check what’s available now.
My wife had a “spend $100, get $20 off” offer in her Target app, which I think is good through the 11th.

A separate deal, but for people that are not yet "Red Card" members, they're offering $40 off a future purchase for signing up until Dec. 11th
(and the "Red Card" , credit card or debit linked to your bank, will get you 5% other Target purchases when used)

In the past this deal has only been valid for Target Store gift cards (not gift cards they are reselling for another party)
I am not sure if you can buy the Target gift card and then turn around and buy a third-party gift card or prepaid credit with it. Probably.

Then when target has cricket $100 card for $85 or 90 (which i have prior experience with), use the target gift card to buy those cricket prepaid cards.
I have bought cricket prepaid cards at a discount at target and kroger before. I might be wrong but sandan might be elluding to this.

Target GiftCards cannot be used:
To make RedCard payment(s)
To purchase Visa®, Mastercard®, or American Express® gift cards
To purchase iTunes gift cards.
To purchase specialty gift cards (gaming, restaurants, etc.)
To purchase Target GiftCards
At Minute Clinics within Target stores
The specialty gift card page on Target.com includes prepaid phone cards.

Just a reminder that today (Saturday) and tomorrow are the days to get the Target gift cards at 10% off.
Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
They can be used for CVS prescriptions inside target, so I'll probably just use them for that as we have a lot of them on our HDHP plan.
That will reduce the temptation for gift cards to be like free money to spend.
I will use paypal for amex marriott 10x points on $450 x2 in wife's account.
Also, using these you are eligible for 1% target circle earnings, which you are not when using the redcard.

Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
I got my $500 of gift cards bought on my Discover card. I bought various denominations hoping to gift some. Since it is too early to send gifts to people IMO, I sent them to myself. Is forwarding (or printing it and putting in a card) someone the email I received with the number/code odd? The email says "You got a Target gift card from <my name>". Of course it would come from my email and not Target directly.
Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
Yes that is odd. Why not just get the plastic gift cards to gift? The email ones require the user to add them to their target account (or create a target account to use).michaeljc70 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 8:44 am I got my $500 of gift cards bought on my Discover card. Done. Saved some bucks and will get a few reward bucks from Discover.
I usually have to accumulate at least $35 worth of purchases to get free shipping at Target, but not today. I wasn't sure if the gift cards counted toward the $35 requirement but turns out they do.

Thank you for pointing that out. I was considering that I might use it for a big electronics item that would probably be excluded based on that. I also noted that "the coupon" appears to have a short use date. If I have to use it by early January that's disappointing to me as well.fishandgolf wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:12 amI just looked at this deal.....I was gonna sign for the Redcard until I read the lengthy list of "EXCUSIONS".....Yikes!!JoMoney wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 9:52 am

The 5% off Target purchases is a nice perk, but I'm not that frequent of a Target shopper, and I can already get the 5% off working a different cards bonus to buy Target gift cards elsewhereThe coupon will be mailed to approved cardholders with their RedCard and will be valid through 1/9/22

I noticed that offer, might take it.
Target and Walmart have really upped their game due to Amazon. Delivery times, pricing very competitive with Amazon. Neither have the breadth or depth of Amazon, but my purchases aren't such that usually I can find whatever I need at all three.

That's been my experience as well. I've actually found better pricing on just about everything look elsewhere than Amazon. I stopped using amazon directly about a year ago. My only indirect amazon usage has been my local library has a program to request books they don't have which apparently goes through some sort of amazon purchase to get the book to the library.Broken Man 1999 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:37 am...

Yes.....Walmart, Target and others have really upped their game....if they're gonna survive, they've got to continue to stay in the race. We've been shopping Amazon for many years, love their PRIME SHIPPING feature also. In fact, when I need something, I just go to Amazon and order it; usually get it within a day or two. Their PRIME vans can be spotted in our neighborhood frequently!JoMoney wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:47 amThat's been my experience as well. Target and Walmart have really upped their game due to Amazon. Delivery times, pricing very competitive with Amazon. Neither have the breadth or depth of Amazon, but my purchases aren't such that usually I can find whatever I need at all three.

Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
We've been a Red Card holder for many years and we absolutely love it. We live 5 minutes from a Super Target so it's been very convenient, as well.

It is per target circle account. Spouse can get a second $500 gift card. Can use same discover to pay for both
Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
Its better to use Discover, as PayPal Key with Chase freedom $1500 spent (or $3000 if family has 2 cards) can better be used anywhere else lonline like paying your car or house insurance or utility bills ahead of time. Discover spend on the other hand is more limited this quarter and harder to hit $1500 (or $3000 for 2 cards) max.CorradoJr wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:46 pm You can also stack with Rakuten or check cashbackmonitor.com
We also found that refilling SodaStream in Target is a good option to spend gift cards, on top of random other purchases. This takes about $80 per year for 4 refills for us, so we stack cards with this annual sale for a year and load them to Target app and use them from the app. This way they do not accidentally get lost.
Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
Already bought mine during the middle of the night, when I had to get up for caregiving. My sister and I have the annual exchanging of the Target giftcards, so got her family's gift card and then filled in the rest for one for myself.
Also used this as an opportunity to order a few smaller items from Target that are not sold at my local stores, but were collectively less than $35 so they didn't qualify for free shipping on their own. They did when combined with the gift card purchases though.

Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
I don't personally have that one available now, but perhaps that's because I have already redeemed several "spend $x over y visits, get $z in Circle rewards" offers over the past couple of months. I know I've redeemed those offers at least twice since summer, so I've probably met my limit for this fiscal quarter.Random Poster wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 10:52 pm My wife had a “spend $100, get $20 off” offer in her Target app, which I think is good through the 11th.
Re: Target gift cards 10% off this weekend
Just a quick FYI that this particular sign-on bonus ($40 off future purchases of $40 or more, with long list of exclusions) is a pretty standard sign-up bonus for the Target Red Card. There's also variations like $40 off a future purchase of $50/100 that come up pretty frequently. So if you're someone who prefers a credit card over a debit card, but are trying to balance your new cards for something like meeting 5/24 rules from Chase and don't want to open a new credit card now, it's likely this offer will come around again in the future.JoMoney wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 10:59 pm A separate deal, but for people that are not yet "Red Card" members, they're offering $40 off a future purchase for signing up until Dec. 11th
(and the "Red Card" , credit card or debit linked to your bank, will get you 5% other Target purchases when used)
