Stand alone tub purchase
I'm remodeling a master bath and am going to have a stand alone tub. Can anyone recommend a brand or style they are happy with. Thanks.

Go to a showroom (or more than one) that has at least several on display that you can sit in. Some feel roomier than others, some are easier to get in and out of, etc. When we remodeled our master bath last year, we ended up getting something completely different than we intended when we were only browsing through catalogs and websites.

Thank you for the advice.

To get some ideas of alternatives look at the Kohler site:https://www.us.kohler.com/us/browse/bat ... 5vZ1z13z9n
There are likely other brands less expensive than Kohler.

This is definitely a personal thing, that depends on your tastes, your space, and your budget. Go to Ferguson, or another plumbing supply place that sells lots of fixtures, look at them, sit in them, and have the person you're working with explain the differences.

I'd get fixtures by Waterworks if money was no object. I installed some Waterworks fixtures on a custom home in Palo Alto about 20 years ago. The home had an assortment of Kohler, American Standard and Waterworks fixtures. The Waterworks fixtures were clearly the alpha in the group. They were priced accordingly.

Go to a reputable kitchen & bath showroom and see what they have. You can step in them and see how you like it. Avoid the big box hardware stores for this purchase. We installed a tub from https://vandabaths.com/. It replaced a fiberglass tub. This one is made with volcanic limestone and holds the water temperature so well.

You might check out vintage tubs as well, that’s what I installed when I remodeled. If you end up going this route make sure there are no code compliance issues.

When we redid our master bath, the tub filler was more than the tub. I was very surprised by that at the time.

We put a beautiful free standing stone resin tub in a master bath a few years ago. https://aquabrass.com/en/p/bathroom/bat ... g-bathtub/
Loved the look, feel and quality. HATED the drain hole right in the middle which would pop open every time I was in there and moved a little.
Building a new house now and looking for a gigantic freestanding soaker tub (78"x40") and will not even look at one with a drain plug in the middle.
