Men - need boxer brief recommendations
Help me out, guys. I'm looking for boxer briefs that have the following specifications. I'm being a little picky here.
-Stretchy, athletic, moisture wicking, "Under Armour" type fabric
-Tight fitting around the thighs
-Chafe prevention; this is critical, likely relates to the below point.
-Not too long, but long enough to prevent thighs from rubbing. I'm only 5'6" so I assume a standard length would be appropriate.
-Quality elastic waist band; I'm not fat, but I can't stand the cheapos that fold over when my stomach flab pushes against it or when I sit down.
-Not a lot of space between the waist and top of the inseam. To put it as politely as I can, I want some material between my boys and my legs. Maybe a "pouch" design would be good for me? Not sure how well those work or if it's more of a gimmick.
-Lasts a while. No five washes and falling apart or loosens up.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Under Armour makes boxer briefs. I made the switch 10 years ago and never looked back. They hold up great as only one of my original pairs has needed to be trashed. I believe they make them in various lengths.

Tommy John Second Skin. Not the cheapest, but I won't go back to anything else.

These are quite pricey, but I bought two 5-packs of the comparable product a couple of years ago and have not had to buy any underwear products since then. I use these for anything from daily use to active sports.

Ex-Officio give-n-go boxer briefs.
Can't say enough about them, especially if you catch them at $25 for 3 at Costco

Re: Men - need boxer brief recommendations
I used to exclusively wear boxer briefs.
Tried Ex-officio b/c a lot of travel bloggers were touting them. They're too rough for me.
Tried a pouch one, but it feels really weird. Ended up tossing them.
Tried Uniqlo Airism. Liked these for a long time. Very comfortable, but the material can lead to odor. Also tends to twist. We traveled for 9 months and ended up wearing almost all Airism for underwear.
But then I switched over the boxers. I never gave much thought to them. Got some cheap Fruit of the Loom or Hanes and haven't looked back. It's been 3 years now.

Without a question, Saxx. I’ve tried all the popular brands and found the platinum (softer) and quest (moisture wicking quasi athletic) and kinetic (athletic) are by far the best. I also have their sweats and bathing suit, both of which are good too.

I just buy whatever I see at TJ Max/Marshalls stores. It can be Calvin Klein, Puma, Spyder. They all seem to work well.

Re: Men - need boxer brief recommendations
Check out the 32 degree boxer briefs at Costco, they are fantastic for the price.
I started wearing Patagonia boxer briefs when backpacking, these are similar and I just wear them all the time now.

+1 here, too. I wear the 6" boxerjock exclusively. Used to wear ExOfficio, but the elastic started to wear out. My first pair of Under Armour from 2014 is still holding up. I pick whatever color is cheapest from Amazon:Triple digit golfer wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 7:13 pmIs there any particular style/model that you guys like?anon_investor wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 6:44 pm+1.3CheersforLkyJack wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 6:22 pm Under Armour makes boxer briefs. Thanks to all for the responses. I'll give a few of these a try as well as a recommendation received via PM. Worst case is I end up with pairs that aren't as optimal as I'd like and those will just be for work or around the house and not golf or anything active.

Pair of Thieves are my current favorite. They are in target and several of the big department stores. I went through a bunch of different designer brands and found some that were nice and I've had under armor boxer briefs that are okay but for the price POT has been great and the initial comfort has held up for over a year now.
Re: Men - need boxer brief recommendations
Duluth Trading Company Armachillo line. I wear their briefs but they also have the same line in boxer briefs.

I'll second Pair of Thieves. I prefer their loose fit boxer, but I've found their entire line to be a good value. My boxers, undershirts, basic T's and lounge shorts are all PoT.
I like Tommy John's too if you can find them at a good sale.
But color me curious about Saxx after the replies above.

Patagonia sender boxer briefs. Great for work and sports. Steep price made me hesitate but glad I got them. They’re supremely comfortable
Re: Men - need boxer brief recommendations
Your needs sound similar, but I also like to have a fly, which many seem to lack these days (surprisingly, to me). Hanes X-Temp (they come with or without spandex, the ones with spandex are stretchier) from Ross, Marshall, TJX

Re: Men - need boxer brief recommendations
I’m confused by seeing this a few times. Is it common for wives to be involved with and aware of their husband’s underwear purchases? That seems really bizarre to me, my wife has enough going on to control my wardrobe decisions, nor can I imagine ceding that decision. Am I the odd one?

These fit most of your description. Mine are 4 years old and do not need replacing.

David Archey are great. Specifically the mesh quick drying.

I have had a difficult time finding comfortable ones. Ive tried a slew of the ones mentioned in this thread and disliked them all. (Though going to pick up some of the Sakk because never heard of those.) DA are easily my favorite. Super comfy, last long, quick drying from exercising

I've tried a lot of different brands and I've found what works best for me is the following
Duluth Trading Company
Armachillo
Stay put Pouch
Be alert that not all Armachillo's have the stay put pouch.

+1 for ExOfficio. Made the switch about 7 years ago and never looked back.
Re: Men - need boxer brief recommendations
In my younger days, I preferred a boxer brief in the “trunk” length, nowadays I tend to prefer the standard length boxer brief that has a longer inseam. The shorter trunk length tends to get too bunched up on me, especially when sleeping.
I’ve had good success with some Calvin Klein styles - they make several but I prefer the thinner stretchier fabrics. Be careful as they make a low rise version that I once got - left me constantly pulling up the back waist band every 15 minutes. (I’m 6’ 3” 205 lbs.)
I’ve also had good success with Gap Breathe and Banana Republic Tech Cotton Sport (Boxer Trunk 0.75” inseam or Boxer Brief 2.5” inseam). These are made of cotton, lyocell, and Lycra and are very stretchy). You can usually catch them on sale almost all of the time.
Calvin Klein underwear (not undershirts) last forever. I have some pairs that are over 10 years old (yes I’m weird and put a date on the tag so I know how old they are) and no issues after 10 years. Waistband still nice and stretchy, no holes, no tears etc.
The Gap and Banana Republic stuff tends to start looking bad after 5 years or so. Waistband stretches out a bit

+1 - great boxer briefs for hot weather especially for the price. Buy in bulk when they go on sale. Note - these pretty run small for me. I'd recommend sizing up one size from size normally worn.Tiny Portfolio wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 6:06 am 32 degrees Active mesh boxer briefs end thread
