I am currently using a traditional light bulb changer with a basket that often gets stuck on the conical trim ring. It seems that most light bulb changers have adaptors and kits that feature a basket or a suction. I came across one that has a fixed piece that works for all types of bulbs. Has anyone used it and do you think this design will lessen the possibility of the piece that grabs the bulb getting stuck on the conical trim ring?

Light Bulb Changer
Re: Light Bulb Changer
Odd...I've never experienced the problem you are having. But since I replaced all of our incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs about four years ago, I haven't used the bulb changer.DTalos wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 4:36 pm I am currently using a traditional light bulb changer with a basket that often gets stuck on the conical trim ring. These never worked for me.
I use a ladder, and changed all bulbs to CFLs and now LEDs, and I rarely change
a bulb.

Bought an aluminum adjustable pole with suction cup similar to this

30 years ago at a janitorial supply house and have never had a problem unscrewing the bulb. No "cage" to worry about. Just pull on the cord to release the suction gup.

The problem I have with the ones you can get at Lowes or Home Depot is with putting in a new bulb. One needs to pull the device off of the bulb and that tends to pull the fixture right out of the ceiling because the device has such a strong grip on the bulb. I just ordered one of those from bulbgrabber.com. It has a way of loosening the grip so I think it will solve my problem. We'll see!DTalos wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 4:36 pm I am currently using a traditional light bulb changer with a basket that often gets stuck on the conical trim ring.
