leave of absence/unemployment aid question IL
leave of absence/unemployment aid question IL
My wife is a teacher and was not able to stay remote for teaching as long as we were hoping. Due to having an infant we opted for her not to return for the remainder of the school year back in December due to childcare concerns. It was noted that she was placed on "Health and Restoration Leave." We never really considered the option, but would she be able to file for any of the Covid relief aid programs? Since not technically unemployed but "on leave" I wasn't sure how this would be interpreted for the state of IL. She will be returning in the fall for the new school year. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

You should have filed immediately. Even if she qualified, they aren't going to give you 6 months back payments.

We hadn't really considered it as a possible option until a friend brought it up unfortunately. Seemed like a gray area and at this point something is better than nothing still if it is an option!

Is your wife able to file for unemployment during the summer months?

As much as "What are your favorite westerns" or "what movie did you watch".
