Valuing the CSR at their travel min of 1.5 per point (or 4.5%), that requires $31K of spend to breakeven. There's some possible upside there with travel partners, by YMMV.
If the AF hadn't increased, I might still stick with it because then the required spend is only $11K. We'll see if the CSR comes up with any new gimmicks like Doordash credits or something that up the ante. But I'm torn on how to value those since their true value relies on lifestyle. For example, I don't value the Lyft benefit at the subscription amount - I would never sign up for Pink. The savings on each ride don't add up to much because we only take a few rides a month - and I sometimes use Uber because it's still cheaper.
Yeah. Hard to quantify how I value some benefits. Below is how I value the benefit/theoretical value
Travel Credit: $300/$300
DashPass sub: $50/$120 (my kids use this pretty heavily, so while it is no value to me has some family value)
DoorDash credit: $50/$60 (I get takeout anyway, knock of $10 for fees/tip/whatever)
Global Entry: $25/$100 (it is every 4 years, and my whole family has it so doesn't go to waste)
Priority Pass: $25/$??? (they don't sell Priority Pass Select directly, hard to say what cost comp is)
So of the "cash like" things I get ~$450/year.
Non ~cash like rewards I value at least somewhat are below.
No foreign transaction fees (available easily with other cards, just not any I currently hold)
Primary car rental insurance (available with other cards, just not any I currently hold AFAIK)
Transfer to partners. Have used a fair bit historically to transfer to United and Hyatt. But currently using Pay Yourself Back as I go and have no points. So unclear how to value this.
Minimum of 1.5x on travel portal - have used a time or 2, somewhat useful
Pay yourself back at 1.5x ends in September. I've found that valuable, and am using it to spend points from my other Chase cards (Freedom/Unlimited) as well as CSR currently. But it is expiring, so no need to renew for that. So will have ~no Ultimate Rewards points by time I need to re-up.
Trip cancellation insurance (never used, but nice to know it is there)
Medical evacuation coverage (never used, but nice to know it is there)
****
And maybe those hard to quantify benefits are worth $100 to me? On the other hand, if I drop CSR and get CSP I'll get at least 60K points, and maybe the 100K points reward will still be there in the fall. I'm inclined to switch currently, will re-evaluate when the time gets closer.
