Definitely one of my all-time favorite songs.
One day the wife says “Why do play that song so much?”
Me: “It’s a great song, a classic, and it reminds me of you.”
Wife: “Well, I can’t stand it.”

I love Song For Our Ancestors on that album. Foghorns in the night! Best to play it loud. The latest album "Catspaw" from Matthew Sweet.
I found it enjoyable so far, with a good bit of a "retro" feel to it - a la "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere"-era Neil Young.

Magdalena, a Broadway musical with music by Heitor Villa-Lobos. The original plan was to adapt music from his existing works, but there were problems securing the rights so he wrote new music instead. He was, fortunately, a very facile and adaptable composer.
Great scene where the villain's jilted mistress, who also cooks for him, takes her revenge by preparing a meal so irresistible that he eats himself to death on stage. They don't write them like that any more

Thanks. I started listening to music seriously in 1960 when my parents bought an RCA tube radio console, and always WLS-Chicago in those early years, an AM station you may have heard of. I was hooked.Horologium wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 11:25 am Sir, I am impressed. I don’t believe I’ve ever encountered anyone with as diverse and eclectic taste in music as you have.
