So, I took a listen to Mudcrutch a little bit ago, and thought to myself, dang, this sounds just like Tom Petty! I like this group....
Then, I discovered why they sounded like Tom Petty!
Thanks for mentioning the group, I'll be listening them a great deal.

I've been on a Pink Floyd kick past few days. I listened to the Wall and A momentary lapse of reason, and I'm enjoying Pearl Jam Yield now.

I just sent you a PM about this.Calli114 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 10:18 pmDid you already have past vocal training? It’s something I’ve considered but would be a complete novice and it seems intimidating.ResearchMed wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 8:29 pm We are starting to listen to more Italian opera.
Just now, it's Mozart.
Why? We have been taking voice lessons, and mostly Italian opera.
We are starting to learn duets.
The first one is "Deh prendi un dolce amplesso", from La Clemenza di Tito.
So we've been listening to that over and over... and over
We really listen differently now that we are getting a bit serious about singing some of this.
And this is an especially pleasant way to pass some COVID time.

I was going to post it here, but it got a bit long (and a bit funny/embarrassing)
Suffice it to say that DH does seem to have a bit of natural "ability", whereas for me, not so much. But I'm still thoroughly enjoying it, and without a doubt thanks to an exceptional and VERY patient instructor!
Enjoy!

A thoroughly delightful collection of live versions of Steve Winwood's classics — curated by the artist — called "Winwood Greatest Hits Live."

If you like Winwood and Traffic, this will not disappoint. Many of the old Traffic standards sound a bit more "mature" here.
There are lots of gems to be found by exploring the playlists created by the original artists on their YouTube channels.

Beethoven 12 German Dances, (academy of st Martin in the fields)
Handel Water Music
Haydn Synphonies - there are 104!
Beethoven Symphonies
Rossini - a couple of his overtures!
Weber - Horn Concertino
Strauss - Horn Concerto No. 1, and No. 2
Camille St Seans - Horn Concerto
Tchaikovsky - lots of that guy
I play the Horn, as you probably have guessed
Opening measures of The original Star Trek TV series
Sound track from the original Mission Impossible TV series - in 5/4 time signature (Lalo Schifrin)
Some Grateful Dead (especially from the late 60s to mid 70s)
A lot of the good rock back in the day.
Some heavy metal is quite listenable.
Hope 2021 has everybody going back to see live performances!!

I usually listen to rock and reggae. With some visits to what I call Slam Grass. But lately a medley of The Ballad Of Jed Clampett and the theme song from Petticoat Junction have been swimming around in my brain. Is this a sign of early onset dementia, or, a return to my roots???
Retired 2019. So far, so good. I want to wake up every morning. But I want to die in my sleep. Just another conundrum. I think the solution might be afternoon naps ;)

Spotify lists them first, then jazz saxophonist Sam Gendel and the Connecticut rock quintet Goose.

seems to indicate it's an interpretation of their song "2021"

Re: What are you listening to now
Since Leslie West's death at the end of last year, I've rediscovered Mountain's Nantucket Sleighride album.
I read in one of the obituaries that West sort of compensated for a lack of speed with a focus on tone. He felt that the tone of his guitar work could be compared to a classical instrument. That insight was like a light bulb going off in my head, and I suddenly realized that the sweet tone(s) of West's guitar work was really one of the most appealing aspects of the band's music!

I'm listening to this wonderful jazz pianist (who became blind around age 11), Justin Kauflin:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZDXkNBYNSQ
I heard him in a live online concert last night; very soulful performer. He also was in a documentary with Clark Terry now on Amazon: "Keep On Keepin' On". I haven't watched it yet but the trailer looks interesting. Last night he played a song he wrote for his seeing-eye dog that was very moving.

The other week my wife and I were comparing female vocalists, I played about five or six of them, alternating with Ella, same song. For each one we both agreed, doesn’t beat Ella, nope, not as good as Ella, etc. right down the line!
