Also, Unchained Melody - produced by Phil Spector.
Definitely one of my all-time favorite songs.

One day the wife says “Why do play that song so much?”

Me: “It’s a great song, a classic, and it reminds me of you.”

Wife: “Well, I can’t stand it.”

John Barleycorn Must Die was released in 1970. I was a sophomore in Catholic H.S. - first weeks of English class. Teacher brought in a record player and put us on the trail of Traffic and Steve Miller Band (Sailor).

I love Song For Our Ancestors on that album. Foghorns in the night! Best to play it loud. And, of course, the other songs on the album are quite good also.

The latest album "Catspaw" from Matthew Sweet.

I found it enjoyable so far, with a good bit of a "retro" feel to it - a la "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere"-era Neil Young.

2001: A Garden of Personal Mirrors — by Mike Kaplan, performed by Naomi Gardner (song commissioned by Stanley Kubrick for his film. He rejected it, never used it, and now it’s been released for the first time. It’s terrible.) https://youtu.be/pF_pEIsFOI4

Magdalena, a Broadway musical with music by Heitor Villa-Lobos. The original plan was to adapt music from his existing works, but there were problems securing the rights so he wrote new music instead. He was, fortunately, a very facile and adaptable composer.

Great scene where the villain's jilted mistress, who also cooks for him, takes her revenge by preparing a meal so irresistible that he eats himself to death on stage. They don't write them like that any more :(

Thanks. I started listening to music seriously in 1960 when my parents bought an RCA tube radio console, and always WLS-Chicago in those early years, an AM station you may have heard of. I was hooked.

Gave the album a listen and really liked it. He did and album with vocalist Irene Kral (Better Than Anything). Several tunes were used on Clint Eastwoods "The Bridges of Madison County."
