Way too much!!!!!
$145x12 = $1740 for 3 cell lines (pretty much unlimited since we do not get close to our cap, and it rolls over) - AT&T
$195x12 = $2340 for internet, TV, home phone - Verizon
I could, and probably should, reduce those costs. They are easy targets. But I'm lazy. We can afford it for now, so I leave it as low hanging fruit in case we need to cut back. It is kind of strange, we did not even have any of those expenses 30 years ago (when we could not have afforded them) because they did not exist. Now they are more or less "essential"! I kind of leave them as low hanging fruit so I can cut back on them when the next latest greatest thing comes out that we'd like to have. OK that is crazy talk, but it kind of makes sense to me . . .
Now that I'm retired cutting those expenses down is definitely on my list of things to do
But I have so many things to do. And honestly if $4000/year breaks my budget I should not have retired!
If you value a bird in the hand, pay off the loan. If you are willing to risk getting two birds (or none) from the market, invest the funds. Retired 9/19. Still working on mortgage payoff.
