$20 every three months, or $80/year, as credit to my account. The costs of voice calla and text messages are deducted from the account.

I have this plan since 2011. The provider was Virgin Mobile that recently became Boost Mobile. With Boost Mobile, the reception is better and $1.20 tax is eliminated.

We have two lines and pay $28 or $34 per month (including fees) with Xfinity Mobile. We switch between the 1 gb and 3 gb plans depending on how much data we're using during the month.

That’s crazy!
It is what it is? 🤷‍♂️ We pay the amount required for the services received.
Yes, but do you need all those services? Don’t you have WiFi at home, at the office, at friends/relatives homes? Do the kids need to be watching movies on their iPads every second they’re out of the house?

It is just an astonishingly high number. Perhaps you have a ton of money, and that makes this really a non-issue, but it’s just a lot...

We’re doing fine with 2 phones on the Mint 3gb plan. Overall its $400/yr for my wife and me. Sure we can’t stream movies on our phones 24hrs/day, we can’t get text messages on our Apple Watches if we go out without our phone, and I have to tether my iPad to my iPhone if I need to get on the internet when out of range of WiFi, but all things we’re happy to live without to save $4500/yr. You can go on a really nice vacation for $4500!

Yep, that was one of the main reasons I ditched AT&T and went with Spectrum. When I lived in GA, AT&T was pretty good but when I moved to OH the coverage was terrible. And the AT&T bill was creeping towards $90/month just for 1GB shared between us.

Note that (in addition to being limited to Xfinity cable/internet customers, otherwise there's a surcharge) this is grandfathered, not available if you didn't already have it.
I think Xfinity ended the grandfathered plans and moved everyone to the new plans. The minimum bill is $12 for 1 GB of shared data for up to 5 lines plus tax. So, neilpilot‘s plan is still available for Xfinity customers.
Ah yes, indeed that appears to be a current plan.

I am currently paying $15/month for unlimited talk and text, 2gb of data with Cricket. But this plan will no longer be available after 7/15. I think I will switch to visible with party pay.

We pay a total of $7.50 a month for our two phones:

FreedomPop (AT&T) $40 a year ($3.33 per month) for unlimited VOIP talk+text, 1GB LTE data monthly

Red Pocket (Verizon) $50 a year ($4.17 per month) for 100 minutes, 100 texts, 500MB data monthly

02nz wrote: Mon Jun 01, 2020 12:12 pm If you want to stick with Verizon, check out Visible, which runs on Verizon (it's actually owned by Verizon IIRC). $40/mo for unlimited, but you can easily drop that to $25 by doing "party pay" - just need to add one person. This can be a stranger on the internet, only that person is responsible for paying the bill.

Visible is capped at 5 mbps, reports differ online about actual experience (in some cases it's not actually capped).

The other option is Red Pocket, which gives you a choice of carriers. Their eBay store is usually cheapest: http://www.ebaystores.com/Red-Pocket-Store
Visible is great if you want unlimited. Looks like they're currently offering $100 back (essentially, first four months free) if you bring your own device: https://www.visible.com/shop/bring-your-own-phone

Red Pocket has the best variety of plans and supports all major carriers. They also have excellent pricing, especially if you can wait for a deal. For example, a few days ago the 5GB plan was priced at $210 a year: https://slickdeals.net/f/14073692-red-p ... 5gb-209-99

We use the 500MB plan, which is regularly $60 a year and sometimes on sale for $50. But they offer plans all the way from 20GB (regular price $360 a year) down to 200MB ($30 a year).

About $100/yr - Gophone... (actually less than that)
All I need is a BeamUpScottie FlipFlop.
Have tried smartphones, dot care for em, lousy phone, interface even worse!
After 40yrs in Software development i Like the BigScreen - And I can Type!!!
Plus, I always have a computer around, at least a 1080P Sam Tab(a really great CocktailTable/Mobile device), or a nice laptop or DualMonitor full workstation. ShartPhones-> Horrible at best, True Proof Americans will put up with anything they can get, rather that what they really want and need!

I often think, Smartphones, only for those that wouldn't understand the BigPicture even if they could see it!

My cell phone bill through Republic Wireless is approximately $16 per month. This plan is for 1 GB of data and unlimited calls and texts paid a year in advance. One thing interesting to note, when I started using a GPS, because my phone didn’t work when I was out of state, my ongoing data usage went to less than a 100 MB/month. When I’m at home or when I was at work Republic Wireless would use Wi-Fi. It seems like using Goggle maps through your phone uses a lot of data.

No, you're just overpaying by a little by going month-to-month directly through Red Pocket. If you buy a year at a time through eBay when they have a sale, you get better pricing.

Here's the listing for the 5GB plan: https://www.ebay.com/itm/20-Mo-Red-Pock ... 3058350672

Regular price is $240 ($20 a month), but it goes on sale frequently.

There is some chatter on various forums that the deal is grandfathered, despite Cricket’s notice. Personally, I’m not changing plans until after July to see what happens.

These threads are always fun. It's like asking "What Kind of Car Do You Drive" and getting mostly responses that a bicycle is just as good and only cost $25 from Craigslist.

$100/year plans are for people who want a portable telephone. Nothing wrong with that at all! $100/mo plans are for people who want a portable computer with continuous high-speed connection to the internet. Just not the same product, really. Makes it hard to sort through whose deals are comparable.

I use to say the same things to others, just as some have said here, I pinched every penny I could and I would scoff at the idea of business or first class because its just a chair on a plane (big bus in the sky), etc...I thought the free breakfast at Hilton was the best thing ever. I pinched every penny I could even when making a fortune, and now I've finally rounded that bend and have an IPS and am spending versus saving, spending on us, as well as giving to charities and non-profits.
Still a waste of $410/mo.

2 lines (iPhones)
1GB shared (use their WiFi hotspots 90% of time)
Unlimited talk/text

Very happy so far. Can switch plan by month if I need more data

Xfinity mobile....switched from ATT where I was paying $95/month for 2 lines and 12GB of shared data that I never came close to using.

Is the 8GB shared or per line? either way Mint Mobile is going to be cheaper, averages $15/mo per line for 3GB or $20/mo for 8GB, if you pay for a year in advance. Best Buy sometimes has the annual plans on sale for even less.

This may have already been corrected but Visible Wireless is not capped at 5mbps. The hotspot portion specifically is capped at 5mbps if you connect secondary devices to your phone.

The normal data usage on Visible can reach just as high as standard Verizon speeds.

It’s fully unlimited for both data and hotspot usage.

Wow! Reading this thread they're an amazing number of options in the cell phone space.

I feel like I got a good deal with T-Mobile. $102 a month, unlimited data, four phones, using the military discount. Plus I get Netflix subscription included. Always purchase the phones on discount or used through swappa.

Just switched to T Mobil Connect. $15/ month plus a few dollars for tax. Unlimited talk/text. 2 gigs of data. No problems so far; about 3 weeks. I have no problem going to another carrier if service is sub par. Businesses these days rarely show loyalty to their existing customers so I have that same attitude when things aren't up to my expectations.

2 phones - unlimited data
2 Apple watches

$62

T-Mobile military plan that we share with 4 other lines. It's really only $60 but I throw in the other $2 to pay my part for the semi-included Netflix sub.

If and when I lose access to the military plan I'll be going to Xfinity mobile for 5G access, unlimited data, verizon network, and they're one of the only MVNOs that support the Apple watch.

Cricket Grandfathered plan - $100 including taxes for 5 people.
4gb high speed internet and then low speed per month.
Unlimited talk and text.
In the last two weeks, bought cricket recharge cards at Target ($5 off $50 and then 5% red card discount = $85.5 per $100 monthly bill) and Kroger (39% off $200 card = $85 per $100 monthly bill). You get those deals once every 6 month. BUy them and add them to the account and thus we have been paying $85 for last 5 years.
