The Plot Against the President on Amazon Prime. Really good.
Re: What Movie Have You Recently Watched?
I agree. I watched it earlier this year. Also, on CBS this past fall was a 10 part series called Manhunt: Deadly Games. It covered the Richard Jewelll investigation and the manhunt for Eric Rudolph (the real bomber) as well. It's now on CBS Access. But I found it on my Amazon firestick. I missed the last couple of episodes on CBS so I have some catching up to do.
It took me a couple of episodes to realize it was Judith Light (Who's the Boss) playing the role of Richard Jewell's mother.

Wonder Woman 1984.
Extremely weird movie with terrible pacing. So many things made no sense or were plot holes, but even the overall plot and villain didn't make sense.
Minor SPOILER: There is one part where a guy doesn't know what fireworks or escalators are, and doesn't recognize a trash can, but is able to fly a modern jet... seriously??

Watched WW1984 day after Christmas. I enjoyed the first one. But this was a disappointment. I don't recommend.jibantik wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 8:01 pm Wonder Woman 1984.

I saw The American and was very disappointed. Unlike some reviewers, I thought his performance was wooden (to be charitable). On the plus side, he did look to be in fantastic physical condition.Swimmer wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 5:39 pmDan999 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 11:37 am "George Clooney in The Midnight Sky on Netflix.

Just thinking of Mr. Clooney’s career. Anyone out there seen The American?
That was, by far, the worst movie I’ve ever seen.

everyone is saying Soul on Disney Plus is a great movie, I started watching it tonight
Re: What Movie Have You Recently Watched?
Great movie but not quite as good as Inception. I watched it on DVD from library and had to turn around and watch it again and picked up quite a few things that I missed. Then I watched a timeline explained on youtube and realized I missed more than I thought. Great movie.flaccidsteele wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 9:18 am Tenet

Watched Soul on Disney+ with the kiddo, it was entertaining. A bit slow at times, overall a good family movie.

I liked Manhunt better than the movie. More detailed and a better actor playing Jewell in my opinion. The movie was good, too.

Rango, on Netflix. Animated tribute to, and sendup of, every spaghetti Western ever made plus more other movies than I could count. Other than one tiny flaw, not getting Clint Eastwood to voice the Spirit of the West, everything about it is perfect, from the story to the visuals to the Greek Mariachi chorus to the casting to the score: perfect, perfect perfect. Somehow I missed this when it first came out and now I can't believe I spent nine years without having seen it. Nine wasted years

Slow but good.
If you have a short attention span and/or enjoy action, this movie is not for you.

It is watchable, started out interesting, but overall disappointing. Fairly predictable. I'm no genius but one of the ultimate "twists" was fairly obvious from the beginning. And then, oh yeah, that person will probably die. Then a completely unnecessary and implausible action scene in a snowstorm and a snowmobile ending with chemotherapy ridden character swimming in artic ocean.

Soul on Disney+. Solid movie, not quite up to par with Inside Out.
Tenet. Mind twister of a film. I enjoyed it. I especially liked the cinematography which is reminiscent of those late 80’s/early 90’s films which is my favorite generation of films. If you like Interstellar or films by David Lynch (e.g. Mulholland Drive), you certainly should watch Tenet. It’s best to see it without knowing anything about the film.

Watched Mulan on Disney+ with wife and two daughters. Nice being with family and watching a movie about the importance of family. Well done movie overall. I hadn't seen the original animated version. Older daughter was disappointed this one was not a musical.

Rock of Ages on HBO OnDemand. I hadn't heard of this 2012 movie of the Broadway show of the same name.
trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFiDeufhxSY
The write ups report that all the actors did their own singing: Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Katherine Zeta Jones, and many other lesser known. Fun to watch, raunchy, generally good covers by the cast of 1980s music.

The King of Staten Island - on Amazon Prime.
Summary: son of fallen firefighter struggles to get his act together in his mid twenties.
Pros: great NYC references, accents, attitudes - great acting performances by Marisa Tomei, Steve Buscemi (I am a fan of both) and Pete Davidson for deadpan humor inserted throughout.
Cons: movie went from depressing to hopeful, but then fell short at the end, my opinion of course.

Toy Story 2, on DVD. I liked it better than the first movie (Toy Story). They're targeting an older age group. If you've played with some of the toys shown in the later part of the movie, there are a ton of subtleties that will have you laughing.

Sound of Metal, absolutely fantastic, one of the best movies of 2020.
Story is of a drummer who quickly begins to lose his hearing. The sound engineering alone make this movie worth watching but I wouldnt be shocked if the lead wins best actor (or if this wins best picture)

Re: What Movie Have You Recently Watched?
I believe all 3 of these are posted earlier, but the first one is one I watched for the first time over the weekend:
LOGAN LUCKY - Southern humor and drama as 2 brothers put together a plan to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway. 2017 movie on Prime Video.
These 2 I watch when ever I happen to see them listed:
Kung Fu Hustle: It's a parody on "serious" kung fu movies. Hilarious if you like kung fu movies, which I do.
and
O Brother Where Art Thou: Escaped convicts on the run. It's a well done comedy/drama. My wife didn't care much for it, but for some reason, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

DW and I currently binging on "The Mandalorian".
Finished binging on "Jessica Jones" last week. The series came on marginally well done at the beginning but plot fragmented as time went on. Nowhere near as good as "Alias", "Strike Back", "Homeland", "The Black List", or "Yellowstone", which we binged on before that.
