If I lose money to advance the technology I believe in it won't be saddest loss. As long as the idea and the intent are not lost, it's not a waste imho.
Buying NetJet plans for early adopters is advancing the cause?
If you want to advance the technology, you can contribute code. It's free.
This. This so much. I've been contributing code to cryptocurrency projects for about half a decade now, but for better or worse, I've never considered cryptocurrency to be a good investment.
Most of the money I've made in the space has been by accident. For example, I left about $50 in a new smart contract platform I had been testing out, forgot about it, and came back later to discover I had made around a 10,000% return, cashing out a little over $5,000. (It's too bad I hadn't checked a few months earlier when it was up 20,000% at $10,000.)
This is just roulette, albeit with better odds. On the other hand, the investment I made in myself, practicing and improving my programming skills with these projects, landed me my current job.
If you take anything from this post, go contribute to open source projects, cryptocurrency or otherwise! It's good for you, and it's good for the world.
