Taylor Sends His Best to Fellow Bogleheads

Dear Bogleheads:

I wish I could thank each of you personally for your inspiring posts! Very few people have the honor of receiving so many wonderful words of kindness during their lifetime.

I have a bleeding lung caused by a small cancer. I endured a Pulmonary Angiogram, plus a week of daily radiation. There is still some bleeding so the doctors have recommended infusions of a cancer killing drug (which I endured for an earlier cancer -- now totaling six). I had the first infusion for my new lung cancer yesterday. I am walking around and feel very good this morning!

Your good wishes have been the best treatment of all!

My thanks to Taylor, he has really helped me to understand the benefits of balanced index funds that are low cost. I don’t worry about growth, or value, or many other factors because a S&P fund has me covered.

Hi Taylor, my dear friend:

It's great to see all of the well-deserved good wishes you're receiving. As I've told you many times in private, as the Prince of the Bogleheads, I have no desire to be King, so you're just going to have to continue hanging around for as long as I do. Perhaps we just might even have another Bogleheads book in us before our time is up.

Just a little pick me up.

Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.

A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.

A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said: "You're really doing great, aren't you?"

Morris replied: "Just doing what you said, Doc. Get a hot mamma and be cheerful."

My Dear Bogleheads:

My bleeding lung and small cancer appear to have been totally cured. Your caring replies leave me humbled with gratitude.

Today I received the bill for my 3-day visit in Miami Baptist Hospital: $68,266.00. Fortunately, Medicare and my Federal Blue Cross health insurance policy paid 100%.

Lessons learned: (1) Friends mean a lot! (2) Good hospital insurance is a necessity.

You have been an inspiration to so many. Your BH books have been very helpful. I am glad my brother got to meet you at a national conference. He made some very good decisions thereafter and is enjoying a successful retirement. I think your comments were very helpful for him and his wife.
