Schwab offered me $1,300 on a $500k transfer. I did an online chat and they responded with a call 3 days later.
I just got $600 on 250k added to an existing account from them. They mentioned their advisory service but immediately backed off when I declined. Taxable brokerage+futures account.
The negotiation was easy. The guy even called me a second time after I didn't return his initial call for one week.
Did a quick search and didn't see this mentioned previously, but TD Ameritrade added a "Promotions" section where folks can verify which offer your account is enrolled for.
I did a transfer earlier in the year and noticed it, so it's been there for a while.
I want to thank the thread for information about the Etrade summer promotion deal. We asked our local schwab office at the end of august to match it and they did with the transfer to one account at Schwab from Vanguard going very smoothly using ACATS. The other person's account is waiting for a check from TIAA through snail mail.

I took advantage of one of the E-Trade offers discussed up thread.
Which one did you get?
It was one of the ones that expired in August. Slightly better than what's offered now. My main point, though, was that everything went smoothly with E-Trade, they are responsive, and the web site is excellent.

There's a better offer which requires a call to the branch and expires 12/31/21. Lowest deposit is $500k. Works for existing clients and they can aggregate taxable and non taxable accounts. $1m would fetch $4k. Requires 12 month hold.

What are the tiers + bonus amounts, and how do you find about those offers?
Why do you have to call? You can't just click the link?
Of course you can.
Since you feel so confident, then go for it. But when I did it a few months ago I was told by my local office that this offer was by referral only and they had to get permission and link to my name.

I've received 3 E-Trade bonuses, I only click the links. They create brand new accounts every time. I feel like you're more likely to sabotage yourself by contacting the local office. Maybe your local office doesn't want you to create a new account because it hurts their numbers if it gets randomly assigned to a different rep?
I'm interested in the current E*Trade promo, but my Employer Stock Plan is with E*Trade, so I already have an E*Trade brokerage account that's attached to the stock plan. I just chatted w/customer support and they told me that I can still get the bonus if I open a new account. I'm a little suspicious since the promo states it's only "valid for new E*TRADE Securities customers". Has anyone tried opening a new account for bonus when they were an existing customer?

Yes, like I've mentioned, I've done the E*Trade promo like 3 times. When I log in, I see the new account and all the old inactive accounts.
I think they only closed the account I transferred securities out of, the other ones seem to just be $0.00 open accounts.
E*Trade posts the bonus extremely fast, so there's not really much risk to give it a shot....if they don't give it, just move it somewhere else.
Sorry I probably missed it - does Schwab still allow one to take advantage of a referral bonus to transfer funds from TD Ameritrade, or has this gone away already post merger? Thanks!

Merrill Edge brought back the signup offer. Just the base offer $600 for $200k, but good to see nevertheless. https://www.merrilledge.com/offers/600
I've never had an ME account or got a bonus from them.
The link refers to this bonus as "the one time bonus". Do you think if I got this bonus and then and moved my money out after the hold period, I could qualify for other bonuses from ME in the future?

The "one time bonus" is identical language to what they've used in the past, so you should be fine churning the bonus. I've churned the Merrill offer several times, essentially annually, and haven't had any problems.
The terms for this new offer are essentially copy and paste from previous offers, so I reckon the bonus will be credited in the same fashion. Here's the offer from last summer (2020), which was $1000 for the $200k tier:

Might anyone have done an ACAT transfer from Schwab to TDA, or vice versa, since their merger?
I did a full transfer from Schwab to TDA a month or two ago and noticed no outgoing transfer fee was charged. I've done similar partial and full transfers between the two and have always been charged the listed fee. Perhaps the Schwab to TDA transfer is treated as an internal transfer nowadays, thereby waiving the fee. Reckon it's one of the very, very few advantages of the merger, for us, the consumer...
Wanted to share that it looks like they've eliminated outgoing transfer fees for the reverse direction, as well. I did a full transfer out from TDA to Schwab last week and no $75 fee charged, as TDA usually does.
Granted, both will typically reimburse for such fees, but one less step if folks are looking to earn a transfer bonus

Just did a transfer from Schwab to Etrade, for the bonus offer. It shows -$50 transfer fee on the account. Did anyone have luck getting Etrade to reimburse the fee? What did you say or write in the message?

Etrade usually reimburse such fees but it would better to have them agree to it ahead of time. You can ask anyway.

That's pretty nice! Do you know if you can combine multiple accounts to hit the target (say Roth IRA + taxable)?
I opened a taxable account and a Roth IRA account in November, 2020 with ME. I have gotten the transfer bonus. But can't remember the required holding period. I should have made a note of it when I took the offer. Does anyone know?
When I look at the current offer at ME, https://www.merrilledge.com/offers/600, I don't see any holding requirement after receiving the bonus. Did I miss the fine print?

I don't think so. The three months you have to wait for the bonus are the holding period, afaik. When I signed up for the old $1000 offer last year, the bonus wasn't deposited for six months, i.e. it was a six month holding period in that case.

As far as I know, yes.
Requesting link, standard search shows $3k for $1MM.

The bonus is chintzy, but it's useful for those of us who need to qualify for platinum honors again because our assets have been earning bonuses elsewhere.
In the process of a brokerage transfer to Schwab - looks like they are calculating the amount of my bonus based on the dollar amount of total equities that will transfer and not total value of equities PLUS cash (I'm having to cash out some of my money market funds)
Anyone else experience this?
How many retired people does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Only one, but he takes all day.

I transferred cash in, as the only option for a rollover was to get a check. The money was quickly re-invested, of course. I am not sure what you are seeing, as I never saw anything that would have indicated what the bonus was going to be, it just appeared in the account a couple months later. Mine was a match of an TD Ameritrade offer a few years ago.
Is the cash, perhaps, being transferred separately and delayed? They usually allow 45 days to meet the criteria for a bonus, so any cash or securities that get's there in that time should count.

In my experience, they said "cash and/or securities" was what mattered, although I actually only transferred securities. In the "enrollment confirmation" email I got, it said:
Thank you for enrolling in the Schwab Cash Bonus Award
I am pleased to confirm that Schwab will deposit $X into your Schwab account ending in ### in appreciation of your $XX qualifying net deposit of
cash and/or securities, if received within 45 days.
Perhaps you're enrolled in a different bonus program? Is there a web page you used to enroll in the bonus program? I would check the terms & conditions to see what qualifies and what doesn't.

This is very strange. My offer says "qualifying net deposit of cash and/or securities."

ETrade $4k for same amount, transfer in progress.
We got $2,300 for $500K at E-Trade, including an optional $500 from the rep. If you're married and your $1MM is in a taxable account, you can split it between new accounts for yourself and your spouse to get $4,600.

Makes sense for married couples. I am glad to pay it forward, PM me if $4,000 is of interest. The rep I worked with made items very easy so glad to help them gain more new money (at our promotion expense).

To clarify, we EACH got $2,300. Despite appearances to the contrary on this forum, most people can't do that. It's possible for us only because we're at retirement and it's our entire life savings.
