Roth IRA ~ Fidelity Freedom 2040 (FFFFX) to Fidelity Freedom Index 2050 (FIPFX)

Post by ericwol »

Good afternoon!

For almost 15 years I've contributed to my Roth IRA and had everything primarily investing into Fidelity Freedom 2040 (FFFFX).

I'm 43 years of age but after consuming more Boglehead related content, thinking of retirement, and comparing fees & allocation ramp I've decided to move everything to the Fidelity Freedom Index 2050 (FIPFX).

Thumbs up? Thumbs down? I'd love to hear any advice or recommendations. Thanks & have a great weekend!

Thumbs up on moving to the Index version.

Only you can answer whether the glidepath of the 2050 is better for you than the 2040.

Lower fees are good. Do you want the higher % stocks you get in the 2050 fund?

Making the move to lower expenses is a good choice. But changing the stock to bond ratio is a different question. I don't suggest making a change unless you have a reason.

Thumbs up, good move to a lower expense ratio.
