Did VFIAX increase fees?

Post by noelb »

I noticed that VFIAX (Vanguard 500 Index Admiral shares) has an expense ratio of 0.04%. I recall that this was 0.018% a few years back. Do you know when they changed the costs? This is unattractive compared to FXAIX (Fidelity) which has an expense ratio of 0.015%

No, .04% is the lowest Vanguard has had for the VFIAX fund.
Vanguard's institutional class 500 fund like VIIIX have lower fees.

Agree with user above. Maybe you had access to VIIIX or VINIX in an institutional account that had a lower ER.

I love to think what those whose investment careers spammed the mid/late 1900's would think about reading this post worrying about the difference between 2 and 4 basis points :D.
