I'm exploring the idea of leaving trad IRA to a charitable remainder unitary trust (CRUT) in order to somewhat replicate the lifelong stretch that the SECURE Act took away. Current balance is only $300,000 so I don't have the millions it takes to make a full service trust company cost effective.
I've heard there are some charities will set up a CRUT for free in exchange for being named the remainder beneficiary. Are there any that can be recommended? Any that will invest in low cost index funds? Any that offer partial administration such as accounting and tax return prep but would allow the income beneficiary to direct the investments? Any that don't require an naming themselves as the remainder beneficiary irrevocably?
Thanks, Lisa
