That is is a considerable number of people with potentially a considerable amount of stuff. Humidity will generally seek it's own level, so I'd guess the difference between floors is pretty negligible. It isn't necessarily that 40% is the ideal humidity, it may in fact be lower than you'd like, but in the cold winter months, humidity levels much higher than that will begin to cause condens...

Humidity is based on temperature. Warmer air can hold more moisture. If the outdoor relative humidity is 50% at 30 degrees, that same air will be at (this isn't exactly correct) 20% humidity when the temperature rises to 70 inside.

Humidifiers in the rooms will help.

My assumption would be to make all handicaps positive to aid in the math. Handicaps can get negative, which would cause you to divide by a negative, which wouldn’t work properly.

-10 is about as low as I’ve ever seen a handicap be, so this takes that out of the equation.

I'd look into a Unico system or a mini-split ductless system. Both are generally much better for retrofits like you are doing vs running all new ductwork. The Unico is sort of high powered blower, so it blows the air through 4" round duct that can be more easily placed into the required locatio...
