I had the exact problem last summer. Not having anything better in my supply cabinet, I replaced the rivet with a wood screw into a small chunk of wood placed under the box. So far it’s working.

Last year I had the same problem with taking my RMD from a Fidelity 401k. When I called the answer was with my particular 401k a Fidelity representative had to initiate the withdrawal! Needless to say I no longer have the Fidelity 401k.

Not that you asked, but 5.5 tons of AC for 2,675 square feet seems grossly oversized. I’m cooling 3,600 square feet in Atlanta with 3.5 tons. Smaller units would be cheaper, quieter and run longer removing more moisture.

We have gel batteries in all our cars (3). The newest vehicle is on its first gel. The other two are on their second with the first replaced preemptively after eight years.

In addition to longer life, gel batteries don’t gas so the battery tray and clamps stay in pristine condition.

As an anal engineer, when I don’t do it myself I’m often not satisfied and end up redoing the task. Hence I do everything that I possibly can myself. Exceptions that come to mind are driveway replacement, new HVAC and septic work.
