You have to pay the same tax either way. So, personally I would choose the approach with the cleaner paper trail. Have the S Corp sell the assets. Then distribute the cash.

It would probably be best to contact your state's exchange and ask them. In general CSRs are built into Silver plans that one is eligible to select based on income. Call a store that just does Persian rugs. They will be able to tell you what kind of rug it is, where it was made, and advise you on what to do with it. I wouldn't waste time talking to a general purpose rug store. You need someone with specialized knowledge.

I just did my 1120S in TurboTax Business and was able to easily generate the Shareholder Basis Statement by going into Forms. So at least that part was simple.

I believe the end date you list is the date your assets were 0. So, wait until the assets are removed from the account, and then list that date as the end date.

I have an LLC taxed as an S Corp with a solo 401k. Fidelity told me I must close the account before I close the business. It is not possible to close the business and keep the account open, according to Fidelity.
