Werner Herzog's 'Happy People: A Year in the Taiga', on Amazon Prime. Happy People: A Year in the Taiga is a 2010 documentary film directed by Werner Herzog and Dmitry Vasyukov and produced by Herzog.[2] The film depicts the life of the people in the village of Bakhta (62.464463°N 89.002168°E) at the confluence of the Yenisei and the Bakhta River, in the Siberian taiga. In particular, it focuses on the Russian trappers who hunt for fur animals, such as sable, depicting their cyclical, self-reliant life dealing with the subarctic climate and geographic isolation. Nonetheless, we invest early and often and soldier on as BHs, tuning out the noise. Bernstein's new book, 'The Delusions Of Crowds: Why People Go Mad in Groups', is out next week, Feb 23. “We are the apes who tell stories,” writes William Bernstein. “And no matter how misleading the narrative, if it is compelling enough it will nearly always trump the facts.” As Bernstein shows in his eloquent and persuasive new book, The Delusions of Crowds, throughout human history compelling stories have catalyzed the spread of contagious narratives through suscept...

I recommend a system that includes a site-specific "salt" added. For example, pick a word you like. Let's say it's football. Obviously football, Football, and Football!69 are poor choices, likely to be found in commonly available "dictionaries" that provide reverse lookup online, and you'd be sharing them. One data breach and they're in everything you own. If my name was Frank I'd do FrankFootball!bogleheads for this site, FrankFootball!gmail over there, etc. That's unguessable in complexity and is unlikely to expose all your site just from one being compromised. However, 2FA adds a different type of protection. In that case someone stealing ANY of your passwords get them nothing. I also use this with Microsoft Authenti...

At one point GameStop’s stock, which averaged just seven dollars last year, was valued at more than 480 dollars. The frenzy was fuelled by cheerleaders on Reddit. Investors were being encouraged to buy the stock even as it became clear that they would probably lose most of their investment. Looking forward to Michael Lewis' new book, 'The Premonition, A Pandemic Story', due out in May. Last year, when the coronavirus began spreading throughout the United States, Lewis called some of his government sources for “The Fifth Risk.” What he learned was even more disconcerting than the frightening scenario he was reading about in the news. The experts he spoke to were alarmed not just by the government’s failure to contain the virus, but by the possibility that an even more deadly pathogen was on the horizon. “All of them saw this event as a dry run for something much worse that is inevitable, and how do we prepare for it?” Lewis said in an interview last week. “They view the pandemic in the way a body views a vaccine.
