I did the same thing for my (20's) niece, matching in an annual lump sum. I told her that if she ever removed any amount, even $1, all future matching funds from me will permanently cease. I verified the lack of withdrawals by annually inspecting the transaction history in her brokerage account, wit...

I know John Bogle commented on cryptocurrency before he passed. If I recall correctly, he said “ avoid Bitcoin like the plague. Did I make myself clear?” What do you think he would say if he were alive today, with Bitcoin trading at $55,000 and Dogecoin market cap at more than $51 Billion. This is ...

One can go over the 400% threshold and will have to repay some APTC. The payback amount is capped at 8.5% of income.

File as early as possible to prevent identity theft by someone fraudulently filing for you first.
In addition: if you file before you croak, someone won't have to file on your behalf.

For the 10 or so years I owned VNQ in taxable, the "Return of Capital" distribution -- more often than not -- was incorrectly calculated on each year's initial 1099, and an updated 1099 was issued causing the need to amend both my Federal and State returns. So, I ditched REITS from my taxa...

Pull out the hard drives, place them in old pillowcases and smash them to smithereens, using a rock, hammer, etc. Then bring the PC's (less the hard drives) to Staples for recycling without any worries. Put the pieces of the hard drives in the trash, spread across several trash pickups.
