Re: Bogleheads you would most like to meet and why?
Off the top of my head I would say: Taylor Larimore because he sums it up with no fluff - gets to the point and has vast experience and he also learned from J. Bogle which helps all of us. Stemikger because he spent a lot of time and effort to gain his experience for himself and to help others. He s...

Re: "Goldman's Bear Market Indicator Shows Crash Dead Ahead"
J. Bogle was so very right when he said "Don`t Peek" and W. Buffett was so very right when he said "market forecasters make fortune tellers look good." Who cares what comes out of Goldman`s mouth and writings. It surely won`t help the average investor one bit. Goldman will not be...

Re: Patience is very important to profit from the stock market
It`s so natural when people hear on tv, radio, friends etc. that the DOW went up today they think that their net worth increased and they feel good. But if they see that their net worth decreased that day and other days when the market rose they do not feel that good feeling and when it`s repeated o...

Re: What is the largest percentage of your total portfolio value that you have exchanged to rebalance?
By rebalancing you are controlling your risk level that you previously set up in your IPS. What`s so wrong with that ? Seeing what you sold going up higher in value after rebalancing hurts emotionally and gets your greed surfacing. That`s why investing correctly is simple yet hard to do. Warren Buff...

nedsaid, it`s perfectly ok to rebalance to selling stock and buying more bonds. Isn`t that in your IPS ? It will work out fine as it`s supposed to. It`s never easy emotionally to take some of the gains and add to the under performer.

I hate to say this but it`s my opinion from the above yield chart that the stock yield will most probably rise a lot which means that the U.S. market will fall a lot to get the stock yields up a lot. This is exactly the portfolio listed by Alan Roth on the lazy portfolio on marketwatch.com ; the second graders one. Look at the results but realize that was in the past. I don`t see how anyone could possibly tell you how to best inflation by 5 % every year. That`s totally unrealistic. The less swit...

J. Bogle says invest we must no matter what. Waiting for a correction is foolhardy because at what level in the correction do you buy in ? How about using a home equity loan to pay your mortgage in full ? The interest rate would be lower I think although I do not know what the interest rate would be today. I don`t think you can deduct the interest on your taxes though.

In order to get the mortgage paid off sooner and not pay more money each month speak to a bank representative about paying 1/2 the mortgage payment every 2 weeks. It lessens the time period to pay and it also lessens the total interest paid. There`s no extra charge for this. You have to fill out som...

It will be very interesting when the international funds begin and continue to out pace the U.S. markets in returns. I`ll bet that folks will whistle a different tune then and resort to performance chasing those returns. Anyway time will tell.
