Contact Schwab and ask them to add your wife to the account. Worked for me at Schwab and Vanguard when we were doing estate planning.

I haven’t been posting during the pandemic as we have been converting an old farm shop into a cabin for weekend getaway . Had a 10inch Kobalt sliding compound saw. Had problems with it and replaced it with a 12 inch saw while under warranty. Very satisfied with the service from Kobalt on the issue. ...

Son and his family donated blood today. Wife is making masks to help our local hospital with material they provided. I am preparing a Sunday school lesson to post on Facebook to help keep or church connected during this strange time.

Dollar General sells a product called Awesone . Costs like a dollar for a spray bottle cuts big guts like crazy. Spray it on wait a few minutes wipe it off.

We have done the Lake Chelan trip on the ferry. Didn’t spend the night but wished we had after getting there. Best boat ride in America.

Dont go searching for the perfect portfolio just make a good choice and go with it. Stay between 30%/70% and 70%/30% stocks to bonds. It will be alright.

5 years in Prime money market fund. Balance of FI in Vanguard Total Bond fund. 5 years later about the same maybe only 4 years in Prime. Dividends not reinvested sent to Prime.

Five years into retirement we have more than we retired with. So no we have not gotten into retirement amount yet. Withdrawing around 4% as needed.

I confess I have watched the market moves with little amusement. Not overly concerned at this time. It could drop another 20%. If you think it would ruin you then you are more risk averse than you think. Investing over 40years gives me the ability to withstand gyrations. Still got more than I retire...

Go visit and leave with the cash. Put it in a bank lock box. Every once in a while replace and spend one of the old bills. You will get the strangest looks. Some young folks have never seen old money.

Just got back from one week at both locations. Must say Savannah was much more of a party town. Was there the week before St Patrick’s Day. We have an addiction that would consume us if we are not very careful. We both show horses competitively. I will not let my wife tell me exactly what we spend each year on them. If I knew the fun would be gone for me.

Consider Retaining a forester to handle the sale. He will market your timber to get you the right price. He will keep you,from getting taken advantage of. Of course you have to find one that is honest. Make sure you get a contract that addresses land damages.

Ok so you would be ok without it. But it also covers others in your vehicles. For example grand children,friends,your mother. This coverage stands in the place of someone else’s coverage. You carry big limits to protect you from others in case you are at fault but don’t want to give the same protect...

When I retired my company had no Vanguard funds so I moved my 401k to Vanguard. Now they have large selection of Vanguard funds so if I was retiring now I would probably stay with the 401k.

Start by asking her how many years she intends for this money to last. Then if it is like 20 years say that over time that is the percentage of her money give to the adviser . Would she pay that one time to have him manage her money forever?

Well we inherited some Brk-b but that really is almost a mutual fund. So from my smarter than the market days I keep a minute bit of Citi just so to remind myself how stupid I was. Not a bad investment now bought it before the reverse split and it took years to get me even.

Looks like they have let their advisor have too much influence or control. They need to take the time to educate themselves quickly. Strart by reading Bogleheads guide to investing/retirement. There are many decisions they will be making soon. Still time left learn. Vanguard would love to help them.

It was scary that October but recovered nicely before years end. But that 25% day was wild. Do I recall brokers actually committing suicide? I was taking a grad level economics class even the professor was shook that Tuesday night for class.
