Re: Refrigerator Filters

Our Whirpool uses Everydrop 2. We go through two/year. I don't fool around with stuff that goes into the body, so buy the Everydrop only, not generics. $45 at Best Buy and they always match the best online price I find, usually Amazon. (For the air filters in the fridge, I do go with generics.)

2. I don't understand why institutions don't switch the log-in order to username->2FA->password. This would effectively make a compromised password impossible to exploit (assuming the bad guys don't have access to your 2FA). Re: Cyber attacks increasing - do you have concerns about the security of your investment accounts?

Two points: 1. Yes, unique (and random) usernames per account is the way to go. A username of length X and a password of length Y (drawn from a universe of 72 characters (upper and lower case letters, 10 digits, and 10 special characters)) implies 72^{X+Y} possibilities. For X=10, Y=20 (say), you ge...

If your financial institution allows (many do), use a unique and random string as your username rather than your name or email address. It’s an extra hoop that the bad guys have to jump through (akin to a second password).
