Re: Computershare certificated shares
These are shares of Bank of America that have been other companies over the years. They have multiple brokerage accounts at Vanguard, Schwab and are capable but not as motivated to consolidate.
I've been trying to get them transferred to Merrill Edge but the ACATS transfer initiated from Merrill has been unsuccessful and didn't know if this indicated they have paper shares floating around.

My father things he sent the paper shares in many years ago but I wanted to confirm that if CS has them listed as certificated what exactly that means?

With Fidelity I have an outgoing funds account which is a Cash Management account that I use to pay day to day expenses and outgoing ACH. This account is separate from my deposit account where the half dozen or so clients I work for deposit payment to me. If my outgoing account gets compromised it's no big deal and I'll cancel and redo the handful of ACH accounts.
You could also get a Cashiers check or a money order if you can't use online bill pay. For gifts what about cash or Zelle? This also gets the outstanding check issue cleared if someone doesn't deposit for a long time.

Something I do think is of value is a transmission fluid "drain and fill", not flush. This gets a lot of the fluid out and will likely extend the life of a transmission. Have to make sure you get the correct fluid or you risk issues. In your case with the low miles I wouldn't worry about transmission fluid but I'd consider looking online how to do some visual checks of the fluids under your hood including power steering and brake fluid.

Re: What vehicle to carry bikes in on vacation?
Are you looking to buy or rent? How often do you go on vacation where this is an issue or is this something you'll be dealing with several times a month. You mentioned losing 1/3 of your range with electric vehicle, is this a problem or just something to plan around? I'm not a big believer in spending a bunch of money on a vehicle for something that you'll infrequently use and could be solved with an inconvenience or rent another vehicle a few days a year.
Is the issue only getting from home and to the vacation destination and packing up on the last day or is moving the bikes multiple times a day something that happens?

You probably aren't far from lifetime platinum, since you have the 10 years, if you care. Have you used the PayPal card to pay taxes? Just to confirm there are no issues. I just saw the 3% cash back this morning and did a search and found this post. PayPal Mastercard has a 3% cashback when using PayPal and 2% back on everything else. So 3% minus the 1.85% credit card processing fee will net 1.15% cashback. Even better yet, if you have the Chase Freedom (the original) or the Chase Freedom Flex, for this quarter (Q4, 2023) you can get 5% on PayPal payments on up to $1500 of spend. Just remember to activate the bonus beforehand. That is a net of 3.15% cashback.

OK, yikes! Hopefully that will all sort itself out without intervention, but IDK for sure. Perhaps BofA is a bit tricky in how they display 'available balance'? Fidelity sure is, you have to dig a bit to find out how much you can actually withdraw vs other things--they'll show immediate 'availability' but not really mean it. We’ll see what happens. The money isn’t spent and I don’t fidelity will charge me a fee if there is a problem and I hope Bank of America will take care of any issues on their end. Just curious if I am missing anything obvious. From what a read only it appears that the first 5000 or so much be immediately available from a government check or cashed bond. I’ll keep you posted. That’s a little over $6 a day keeping the mo...

How long of a hold for paper EE bonds deposited in person (Bank of America)
Hello. I deposited 2 fully mature EE bonds at a brick and mortar Bank of America branch. Everything went find and the receipt the newly deposited funds as part of my available balance. I pulled money from that checking account to my Fidelity brokerage the same day. I woke up today and see a hold until 8/24 - 8 days from today. Is this normal and since this was going into a margin account at Fidelity what will happen?
FYI the bonds total value was a little less than 50k and I had ~$3 in my checking account before deposit. Also shouldn't matter but I'm "platinum honors" and have a mid 6 figure retirement account at Merrill Edge

Also curious. I currently have a solo 401k and the remnants of a taxable brokerage account with 100 bucks. I have less than $1mm in etrade to get the extra bonus for existing accounts but looks like the sweet spot may be $1800 for $500k. If I am understanding correctly looks like I may need to open a new taxable brokerage account and not contribute to my existing taxable brokerage account.boxspreads wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 10:12 am Has anyone managed to get this without opening a new account.
I used to be able to do that by calling ETrade, and they'd sign me up for the promotion, but lots of information on this thread says they're not doing promotions over the phone.
Already have a Roth with them, and would like to avoid having a host of empty IRA's if possible.

Upstate SC (Greenville, Spartanburg and surrounding areas) are nice and there can be stunning mountain views. You're in much better shape with hurricanes and typically infrequent snow and ice. Lots of interstate access and several hours away from Charlotte, Atlanta and the coast. The Beaufort, Charleston and everywhere along the coast is obviously very low lying and could have a rough go of things if a storm were to get close. Normal flooding also seems to have increased and regularly happens with the cycle of the moon even without rain. This obviously isn't everywhere but there are places where it happens all the time and seems to be getting more significant. Hilton Head seems to be a constant traffic jam but that could have also been my t...

You can also try a factory reset. That router also has a ethernet port and if someone were interested they could add another wifi access point or router that may work better. Not saying you should have to do this, but may be an option.
