I refused owners title insurance on my last house. They immediately offered to "reissue" the sellers policy for like $350, which I accepted.
Definitely a shady business, but it does offer a small amount of protection.

The amount doesn't really matter if they have the means and a plan to pay it off relatively quick.
So 100k in student loans for a worthless degree would be a deal breaker, but a 500k mortgage for the house we are going to live in may be fine.

Alaska. While it may never be as cost effective as renting, it is spectacular up there and real estate feels undervalued compared to desirable places in the rest of the country.

It is always in the sellers best interest to stop all communication with you after closing, so I would not expect any sort of help now.

Making emotional decisions.
Ultimately all that matters is that you like the house and can find somebody to pay more than you did when you are ready to sell (unless you like it so much you don't mind losing money).

I am not a banker, but believe this has been standard practice for ~20 years.
Your bank/cu doesn't directly process the check. The depositing bank reads the account/routing number from your check and does an electronic transfer. This change allowed for things like depositing checks on our phones.

Most, if not all WiFi devices are vulnerable to deauth attacks. So anybody with a Linux laptop or rooted Android phone could temporarily disconnect your cameras from a few hundred feet away before doing something they don't want recorded.
Signal jammers could also be a concern, but usually can't be targeted at specific devices like sending deauth packets.
More expensive cameras can save footage locally to SD Cards to minimize these concerns.

I have bought a house in a new area and moved without a job twice. A little scary, but it worked out fine both times.
Unless you can afford multiple house payments for a while, it is very difficult to properly time everything involved in a move like this. By taking a job start date out of the equation, we found it much easier.

Biggest selling point for me was how they fail. A tankless failing typically mean no hot water. A tank failing can flood your basement.

Everybody does this where I live. It is essentially the only way to get a house these days. The biggest issue is they only account for price. So if you offer all cash, no contingencies up to $280k and somebody else offers $279k, with a subsidized loan contingent on another sale, your offer would be far more valuable even at lower price, but you still pay more. The offer escalation over a comparable cash offer only. That is just an example though. There are many situations where an offer could have a high price, but not be acceptable to the seller. Lets say there is a second cash offer for $279k that demands a closing date in 14 days. The seller can't make that work. Instead of tossing that offer, it can still be used to trigger the escalat...

What is the specific error code? A BSOD is almost always caused by bad drivers or failing hardware. If you use Windows 10 and have received any "feature updates", you may need to update the drivers for your Video card or other hardware now too. Windows Update is getting better about auto updating this stuff, but they are still missing support from a couple of major vendors.

A lot of posts here are really missing the point of the initial question. If/when X% of car buyers want an electric vehicle, the value of existing gas cars is likely to take a huge hit. Maybe that is in 5 years, maybe 20, but I can't imagine it not happening eventually.

I think this is a very real concern. I will probably lease my next car, as I am not quite ready to commit to an EV, but certainly see them as the future. I think we will get to the tipping point relatively quick if we see a major spike in oil prices again. Or major subsides for EVs to make them cheaper than gas vehicles.
Of course there will be some exceptions. I could see the gas version of some cars becoming more valuable as they are discontinued. Maybe the Jeep Wrangler or something similar.

If you truly think ownership is your best option, I wouldn't go above what you can put 20% down on, so $2M tops.

Google Voice numbers are seen as VoIP numbers by most carrier lookup services. VoIP numbers are often blocked because of high rates of fraud, as they are much cheaper to acquire in bulk than real mobile numbers.
The way SMS shortcodes work with VoIP numbers is also not standardized, so they sometimes just don't work, even if they are not actually blocked.
